  • Publication number: 20040264750
Abstract: A pore ruler for objectively measuring attributes of facial skin pores and methods of using same.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 26, 2003
    Publication date: December 30, 2004
Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.

  • Patent number: 6306806
Abstract: The invention provides an at least dual compartment container containing at least one surfactant stripe and at least one water-in-oil emulsion stripe. By dispensing a water-in-oil emulsion stripe, greater deposition, particularly deposition of water soluble benefit agent (e.g., glycolic acid) is achieved than believed possible.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 2000
Date of Patent: October 23, 2001
Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc
Inventors: Dale St. Lewis, Helen Elizabeth Knaggs
  • Patent number: 6268322
Abstract: The invention provides an at least dual compartment container containing at least one surfactant stripe and at least one multiple emulsion stripe. By dispensing a multiple emulsion stripe, greater deposition, particularly deposition of water soluble benefit agent (e.g., glycolic acid) is achieved than believed possible.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 22, 1999
Date of Patent: July 31, 2001
Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, a division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Dale St. Lewis, Helen Elizabeth Knaggs, Mark Stephen Naser, Philippe Cham
  • Patent number: 5773015
Abstract: A method is provided for inhibiting oil and grease generation from human skin by applying to the skin a C.sub.11 -C.sub.30 alkyl or alkenyl ester of salicylic acid as an active component in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most preferred is tridecyl salicylate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 27, 1996
Date of Patent: June 30, 1998
Assignee: Elizabeth Arden Co., Division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: John Steven Bajor, Angel Augusto Guerrero, Helen Elizabeth Knaggs
  • Patent number: 5760407
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for the identification of fluorescing follicles that can be follicular impactions and/or microcomedones (clinically non-evident acne lesions), and/or comedones (clinically evident acne lesions) and/or bacteria on the face or other skin surface area. The inventive device allows the detection of both types of follicular fluorescence (yellow/green and orange/red). For safety reasons, to prevent skin burns and erythema, the filter on the ultraviolet light source removes substantially all the harmful UVB radiation (280-320 nm wavelength range). The filter used in conjunction with the detection means removes reflected and scattered light emanating from the subject's skin surface, thus increasing the sensitivity and discretion of the technique and making fluorescence detection easier and clearer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 1997
Date of Patent: June 2, 1998
Assignee: Elizabeth Arden Co., Division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Marion Louise Margosiak, Helen Elizabeth Knaggs, Michael Paul Aronson
  • Patent number: 5690948
Abstract: Gugulipid (a lipophilic ethyl acetate extract from C. mukul or C. wightii) and an alcoholic fraction of gugulipid as antisebum and/or antioxidant active in cosmetic skin care compositions and methods is disclosed. Gugulipid from C. mukul and its alcoholic fraction are capable of delivering dual benefit to the skin: controlling or preventing sebum secretion (oily skin conditions) and protecting the skin from free radical damage.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 10, 1997
