  • Patent number: 8348915
Abstract: An initial product adaptable to form a garment such as a diaper, training pant, pull-up diaper, adult incontinence pant and diaper holder. The initial product includes a chassis for receiving the absorbent structure. The chassis includes a first lateral margin and a second lateral margin. The first and second lateral margins are joined to a central structure along a first line of joinder and a second line of joinder, respectively, the first and second lines of joinder extending substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. The first and second lateral margins have a first end region, a second end region and a central region. The first and second lateral margins have a material which is elastically extensible in at least the longitudinal direction in the central region. Lateral edges of the lateral margins are provided by third and fourth strips of substantially inelastic material.

  • Patent number: 7988682
Abstract: An absorbent prefastened product in the form of a disposable pants diaper is provided with a side closure arrangement on each side. The side closure includes front and rear side flaps having elastic portions where an inner surface of a rear side flap is overlapped and welded to an outer surface of a front side flap. Each side flap is also provided with one part of a releasable fastening system located such that the weld is located on at least one of the elastic portions and such that it lies inward of the releasable fastening system in the prefastened state. A method of forming the absorbent product is also provided, in which an overlapped attachment is formed by joining front and rear side flap members together and attaching the side flap members to an absorbent chassis member.

  • Patent number: 7918840
Abstract: An absorbent article includes an upper, liquid-permeable cover sheet, a lower, liquid-impermeable cover sheet, and an absorption body arranged between the cover sheets. The article includes first and second side barriers along the respective longitudinal sides of the article. Each side barrier has at least one longitudinal elastic element. The side barriers define a shape which narrows in the direction towards the front portion so that the distance, in the transverse direction of the article, between the elastic elements is greater in the rear portion than in the front portion. Each side barrier is arranged such that, when it is secured in contact with the front portion, each side barrier and the upper cover sheet define a folded structure of substantially Z-shaped cross section with a fold directed towards the inside of the article.

  • Publication number: 20100170614
Abstract: A method for cutting discrete fastening elements (15A-15D) out of a web (15) of fastening element material and attaching the cut-out fastening elements to a web (3) of surface layer material. The method includes the following steps: sequences of four trapezoid fastening elements (15A-15D) are cut out of a web (15) of fastening element material, after which the first and fourth fastening elements on the one hand and the second and third fastening elements on the other hand are attached to a web (3) of surface layer material so that the first (15A) and fourth (15D) fastening elements on the one hand and the second (15B) and third (15C) fastening elements on the other hand are attached to successive absorbent articles in the process line.

  • Publication number: 20100137823
Abstract: An absorbent article includes a chassis extending about a longitudinal axis and having a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent structure disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The chassis has a first transverse axis dividing the absorbent structure into a front body panel terminating in a front waist region and a rear body panel terminating in a rear waist region. The rear waist region has a first elastic region. The chassis is delimited by opposed longitudinal edges and opposed transverse edges. In the rear waist region, the absorbent structure terminates at a first distance from the transverse edge and the first elastic region extends substantially parallel to the transverse edge and spaced therefrom by a second distance and spaced from the absorbent structure by a third distance. The third distance is greater than said second distance or substantially equal thereto.

  • Patent number: 7540862
Abstract: Starting from an elastic material web and an absorbent product web, the method includes removing a first material piece from the elastic material web to provide a second material piece with an aperture and applying the first piece to a first portion of the absorbent product web. The second piece is supplied to a second application station and a section of the second piece is stretched and applied to a second portion of the absorbent product web. In this way an absorbent product with elastic waist portions is manufactured efficiently and with a minimum of waste.

Abstract: An absorbent core in an absorbent article is provided with at least two folding guides extending in a substantially longitudinal direction in the crotch region and dividing at least a part of the crotch region of the absorbent core in a central portion and two lateral portions as seen in a transverse direction. At least two stretchable crotch elastic members are arranged in the crotch portion of the article and are attached to the absorbent core and/or to the inner or outer cover. At least a substantial portion of the crotch elastic members are positioned laterally outside the respective folding guide so as to cause said two lateral portions of the absorbent core to be raised along said folding guides with respect to the central portion.
