Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of adenylate cyclase toxin (ACT), or a functionally equivalent variant thereof, as an inducing agent for the internalization of non-invasive bacteria in eukaryotic cells. Due to ACT, said non-invasive bacterium can move through the plasma membrane of a eukaryotic cell and transfer plasmid DNA to said cell, which is useful for releasing or introducing molecules of therapeutic interest, for example, antigens, in the interior of the eukaryotic cell, thereby triggering the immune response.
