  • Publication number: 20140147590
Abstract: A method for producing a coating of one or more layers on an extrusion die as a substrate body of a heat-resistant and/or long-term heat-resistant steel material by means of chemical vapour deposition (CVD), comprising the steps of: providing the substrate body from hot-work tool steel, which is intended for interacting with ductile extrusion metal, introducing a first reaction gas, comprising a metal, in particular titanium, into a reactor receiving the substrate body, to provide a coating metal, introducing a second reaction gas, comprising a carbon compound, into the reactor, to provide carbon for the coating, wherein the first and/or the second reaction gas or a further reaction gas provide(s) nitrogen for the coating, and carrying out a CVD coating process with the reaction gases.

  • Publication number: 20110045283
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting insert and a method for its production, in which a hard-metal, cermet, or ceramic substrate body is coated by means of a PVD, PCVD or CVD method with a single- or multi-layer coating of carbides, nitrides, oxides, carbonitrides, oxinitrides, oxicarbides, oxicarbonitrides, borides, boron nitrides, boron carbides, boron carbonitrides, boron oxinitrides, boron oxocarbides, boron oxocarbonitrides of the elements of groups IVa to VIIa of the periodic table and/or of aluminium and/or mixed-metal phases and/or phase mixtures of the above-named compounds and, after the coating, the substrate body is subjected to dry or wet abrasion blasting using a granular blasting abrasive.

  • Publication number: 20080050614
Abstract: The layer structure of a cutting plate produced according to a chemical vapor deposition CVD method contains a thick outer covering layer of medium temperature (MT) TiCN, and a multilayer Al2O3 layer arranged beneath the covering layer. Said multilayer Al2O3 layer consists of, at least, two aluminum oxide layers between which TiCN layers, and optionally TiAlC—NO layers for improving adhesion, are arranged. One such overall design has especially good chip removal properties.

  • Patent number: 7267701
Abstract: A TiBN layer is provided as a coating, in particular for cutter bodies, which is a mixed phase consisting of TiN and TiB2. The boron content is 6 At.?weight-%. The deposition rate is higher than that of a TiN layer and also higher than that of a TiB2 layer. Hardnesses between 3500 HV to 5000 KV are achieved.

  • Patent number: 6436519
Abstract: For coating a cutting tool with an aluminum oxide layer, a bonding layer has been provided that is preferably formed by aluminum titanate and has a flake-like crystal structure. This bonding layer improves the adherence of an aluminum oxide layer, in particular to underlying titanium nitride, titanium carbide, or titanium carbonitride layers.
