  • Patent number: 6585029
Abstract: A continuous casting mold for continuous casting of a steel billet. Opposite spaced apart wide side walls and opposite spaced apart narrow side walls between the wide side walls and clampable at the wide side walls and also displacable along the wide side walls transversely to the casting direction, the narrow side walls being narrow wedged-shaped in the casting direction. A funnel-shaped pouring-in region defined in the wide side walls. The wide side walls converge in the casting direction. The distance between the wide side walls at the mold end is constant over the entire width of the side walls allowing at least one of the wide side walls is supported to be displaceable and tiltable with respect to the other wide side wall by an adjusting device.

  • Patent number: 5901779
Abstract: A continuous-casting mold has walls resting on an oscillating lifting platform and is provided with a stirrer which incorporates a magnetic circuit. The stirrer has a yoke which at least partially surrounds the walls of the mold and which has at least two cores facing opposite sides of the mold. In order to prevent the magnetic force of the stirrer from deforming the walls of the mold, the lifting platform, which sets the walls of the mold into oscillation, is designed as the yoke and each core is located on a bracket projecting out of the lifting platform.

  • Patent number: 5582229
Abstract: A continuous casting plant for the optional casting of an ingot of slab cross section or of ingots of smaller cross section has a first structural unit which is developed as plate mold for the casting of an ingot of slab cross section. This structural unit is supported on a mold support structure (1) and can be replaced by a second structural unit (16) having molds (21, 22, 23) for the casting of ingots of smaller cross section. For the dependable supporting of the molds (21, 22, 23) for the casting of a smaller cross section, the second structural unit (16) is formed of two longitudinal girders (17, 17') which are arranged spaced from and approximately parallel to each other and are rigidly connected to each other, the molds (21, 22, 23) being supported on the longitudinal girders (17, 17').

  • Patent number: 5505249
Abstract: A continuous casting mold comprising an oscillating supporting structure including side walls defining a mold cavity, together with the supporting structure, is supported on a lifting table oscillated by an oscillation drive and guided in the oscillation direction by a guiding device. In order to keep the oscillating masses as small as possible and to improve the space conditions below the mold as well as to ensure easy repair, the lifting table is formed by at least two oscillating beams arranged at a distance leaving free the horizontal dimensions of the mold cavity and bridged by the supporting structure including the side walls.

  • Patent number: 4960165
Abstract: A method for adjusting the casting width of a continuous metal, in particular steel, casting mold in which two displaceable end walls are clamped between two large side walls with a predetermined clamping force. Prior to making the adjustment the clamping force acting on the end walls is released and one large side wall is displaced away from the abutting end walls to form a gap between them so that the end walls can be moved to the desired position. They are then clamped again between the two side walls. To attain an optimum gap width between the end and side walls by taking the actual mold dimensions at the time of adjustment into consideration, the thermal expansion of the end walls in a direction parallel to the axis of the tie rods is measured during casting, or at least during the start-up period of the continuous casting process until it has reached its equilibrium state. The adjustment is the made by adding the desired, optimum gap width to the actual, measured expansion of the end walls.
