  • Patent number: 6513195
Abstract: A hinge is provided at an edge of a container and a cover of the container. The hinge is designed such that the edge of the container can be both lifted off from the edge of the container and folded away. The pivoting movement of a second member (4) is limited by two stop positions I and II, of which the stop position I defines a stable position of the cover of the container on the edge of the container, fixed by the inner part (8) and the outer part (9). The closed container can be opened from the stop position I by lifting off the cover of the container, and the other stop position II defines a stable position of the cover of the container folded away from the edge of the container with the container opened, likewise fixed by the inner part (8) and the outer part (9).

Abstract: A hinge is provided at an edge of a container and a cover of the container. The hinge is designed such that the edge of the container can be both lifted off from the edge of the container and folded away. The hinge is thus especially suitable for incubators in order to guarantee simple and rapid access to the premature or newborn patient.

  • Patent number: 6031968
Abstract: A humidifying system particularly for incubators and a process for humidifying incubators is disclosed. The system includes a float valve with a sleeve-shaped float housing with a float body axially displaceable therein as well as a throttle valve influencing the flow of liquid. The throttle valve is actuated depending on the relative movement of the float body in relation to the float housing, and by the external diameter of the float body and the internal diameter of the float housing being selected to be such that a capillary gap wetted with liquid is present. With this construction, the reference level for the setting of the liquid level remains unchanged due to the float valve being designed as a hollow float body axially displaceable in a float housing with a liquid-filled, annular capillary gap between the float body and the float housing.

  • Patent number: 5830123
Abstract: A pivotable irradiating device for a person on a lying surface provides extensively uniform continued irradiation of the lying surface without any interruption in time when the irradiating device is pivoted out of the starting position. The irradiating device has at least one radiator in a housing. The housing is connected to a securing element via a rotatable connector (hinge). The axis of rotation of the hinge is located outside a central axis of the irradiating device. The intersection of these two axes is located in the center of the lying surface or in its vicinity.

  • Patent number: 5211945
Abstract: This invention relates to methods for modulating the effects of TNF and IL-1, both the deleterious and the therapeutical effect of these cytokines. In case of deleterious effects, the invention provides methods for modulating the deleterious effect of TNF and/or IL-1 in mammals, by administering to a mammal sub-deleterious amounts of TNF and/or IL-1. The TNF and/or IL-1 to be modulated may be endogenous, i.e. generated in the organism in severe cases in amounts deleterious to the organism, or exogenously administered to a patient in amounts which are potentially deleterious. The compositions of the invention comprise effective amounts of TNF and/or IL-1 with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The invention also relates to methods for monitoring the modulation of the TNF effect in patients treated with TNF and/or IL-1.
