Patent number: 4320067Abstract: A process for preparing modified polyisocyanates in which an organic polyisocyanate is reacted with a polyamine present in less than stoichiometric amount. Polyamines suitable to this process include (a) polyamines having more than three nonaromatically bound, basic nitrogen atoms of which at least two are primary and/or secondary amino nitrogen atoms, and (b) polyamine mixtures having an average of more than three nonaromatically bound, basic nitrogen atoms of which at least two are primary and/or secondary amino nitrogen atoms. These modified polyisocyanates are particularly useful starting materials for production of polyurethane plastics by the isocyanate-polyaddition process.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1981Date of Patent: March 16, 1982Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wulf von Bonin, Helmut Kleimann, Hans-Albrecht Freitag

Patent number: 4317791Abstract: A process is described for the successive production of at least two non-cellular molded articles differing in their mechanical properties. Both articles are based on organic polyisocyanates which are trimerized in the presence of compounds which are reactive with isocyanate groups where the equivalent ratio of NCO groups to groups reactive with NCO groups is varied within the range of 1:0.8 to 1:0. In a second embodiment, a uniform article is produced having anisotropic mechanical characteristics varying continuously and/or stepwise.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1977Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Heimo Ludke, Peter Gunther, Helmut Kleimann

Patent number: 4189542Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a process for the production of weather-resistant rigid molded foams based on polyurethanes having a dimensional stability under heat according to DIN 53 432 of at least 70.degree. C. and a compact surface, a cellular core and an integral density distribution throughout the cross-section of the moldings, comprising foaming a foamable reaction mixture of polyisocyanates, polyhydroxyl compounds, blowing agents and, optionally, other isocyanate-reactive compounds, activators and other auxiliaries in a closed mold under the conditions of in-mold foaming, the improvement wherein the polyisocyanates used are reaction products containing isocyanate groups and urethane groups, said reaction products formed by reacting diisocyanates containing at least one cycloaliphatically bound isocyanate group and no more than one aliphatically bound isocyanate group with sub-stoichiometric quantities of organic polyhydroxyl compounds.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1978Date of Patent: February 19, 1980Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Helmut Kleimann, Holger Meyborg, Hans-Jurgen Lienert, Gerhard Grogler

Patent number: 4160851Abstract: This invention relates to the production of composites of organic polyisocyanate plastics and metals. The metals are pretreated with certain adhesion promoters in order to increase adhesion between the metal and the plastic. The pretreated metal sheet or foil is brought into contact with the reaction mixture during the chemical reaction while the plastic is being formed.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1977Date of Patent: July 10, 1979Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hans-Jurgen Lienert, Helmut Kleimann, Dieter Dieterich, Wulf VON Bonin, Klaus Friederich, Peter Markusch

Patent number: 4098731Abstract: The present invention relates to the production in closed molds, of foams with outstanding mold-release properties. These improved properties are obtained by including in the foamable mixture salts of saturated or unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carboxylic acids having at least 8 carbon atoms and tertiary amines of the type in which the atom ratio of tertiary amine nitrogen to carbon in the molecule is between 1:3 and 1:12.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1977Date of Patent: July 4, 1978Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wulf von Bonin, Helmut Kleimann, Jozsef Ivanyi

Patent number: 4070310Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of polyurethane foams in closed molds using mixtures of organic polyisocyanates with certain compounds which liberate carbon dioxide under the catalytic influence of basic compounds. In this process a mixture of polyisocyanates and compounds which liberate carbon dioxide under the catalytic influence of basic compounds is reacted with organic compounds containing hydrogen atoms which are reactive with isocyanate groups, which organic compounds are mixed with basic compounds and/or have basic compounds chemically built into them. The process is suitable for the production of any polyurethane foams in a closed mold, but is preferably applied to the production of semi-hard and particularly of hard polyurethane foams having a dense outer skin.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1976Date of Patent: January 24, 1978Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Heinz-Georg Schneider, Helmut Kleimann, Bruno Luckas
