  • Patent number: 5237940
Abstract: Waste is incinerated in a rotary furnace which discharges slag and exhaust gas connected to an afterburning chamber. The slag is discharged from the afterburning chamber directly into a glass melting furnace while the exhaust gas is removed to scrubbers which remove residues which are then fed to the glass melting furnace. Cullet and other glass forming materials are also added to the furnace in order to form a vitrified product.

  • Patent number: 4455108
Abstract: A sea anchoring system for anchoring floating sea stations to a sea bed floor such as on a foundation or a stay block comprises a tension member connected between a floating station and the sea bed foundation or block with a plurality of tension members connected between the bed foundation and the floating station through universal joints. The universal joints include an assembly comprising an inner spherical body and an outer spherical body arranged over and slightly embracing the inner spherical body. The outer spherical body includes an opening on one side and a pin connected to the inner spherical body and extends through this opening and is connected, for example, to the foundation or to the floating body. The outer spherical body has a connection for example to the tension member. The inner and outer spherical bodies have spherical surfaces facing each other and at least one of these surfaces has a lining of a material which permits sliding interengagement with a minimum friction and wear.

  • Patent number: 4422791
Abstract: The universal joint construction for use at the bottom of a connection between a surface platform and a foundation anchored on the bottom of the sea comprises an outer top ball cup which is adapted to be connected up to the platform and an inner bottom ball cup disposed within the outer top ball cup enclosing the bottom thereof. The inner ball cup has an exterior in slidable engagement with the interior of the outer ball cup and a bell forming an enclosed pressure space is defined between the exterior of the upper cup and the bottom cup. In addition a ring seal bearing is defined between the inner bottom ball cup and the outer top ball cup adjacent the edge of the outer top ball cup. The interior of the bottom ball cup carries a plurality of shoes which bear in sliding engagement with the interior of the top ball cup.
