  • Patent number: 10034696
Abstract: An implant system for use in orthopedic surgery for fixation of bone includes an intramedullary nail and a coupling unit. The intramedullary nail has a medial side, a lateral side and a proximal portion defining a longitudinal axis. The proximal portion includes a bore defining a first axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the proximal portion and a transverse bore configured to receive a bone fastener. The coupling unit is movably arranged within the bore of the proximal portion and includes one or more bone fastener engagement members at one or both of the lateral side and the medial side of the intramedullary nail.

  • Patent number: 9782206

The intramedullary nail has a proximal portion defining a longitudinal axis and a transverse bore. The proximal portion includes a bore defining a first axis and a guiding structure defining a second axis, wherein the first axis and the second axis are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the proximal portion of the intramedullary nail and are spaced apart from each other. The coupling unit is movably arranged within the proximal portion and includes a substantially cylindrical pin and a drive member with a through hole. The guiding structure is configured to slidably receive the substantially cylindrical pin, such that the pin can engage within a groove of a bone fastener configured to penetrate the transverse bore of the intramedullary nail.

  • Patent number: 9463054
Abstract: An implant system for fixation of bone includes an intramedullary nail, an extramedullary plate, and a bone fastener. The intramedullary nail has a connecting opening defining a first axis and a transverse opening defining a second axis and is configured to receive the bone fastener. The bone fastener is configured to penetrate a first through opening of the extramedullary plate and the transverse opening of the intramedullary nail. The implant system comprises a connecting fastener to fasten the extramedullary plate to the intramedullary nail by insertion through the second through opening of the extramedullary plate and the connecting opening of the intramedullary nail. The first axis is oblique with respect to a longitudinal axis of the intramedullary nail and parallel to the second axis of the transverse opening. Thus, the extramedullary plate can move parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bone fastener towards the intramedullary nail.

  • Patent number: 7625395
Abstract: A bone screw has a flexible shaft which prevents relative movements in the direction of tension, but permits smaller movements in all other directions. The bone screw is configured as a screw insertable into medullary cavities having a curved surface, where the screw adapts to the given contour.

  • Patent number: 7276070
Abstract: To be able to secure a bone screw, in particular one that can be aligned polyaxially, especially fixedly and nevertheless easily and detachably in an osteosynthesis plate or a comparable implant, a clamping bore is proposed in addition to a receiving bore, whereby the receiving bore holds a bone screw directly or indirectly, and the clamping bore runs essentially perpendicular to the osteosynthesis plate or parallel to the receiving bore, and with a recess in the area of the bores, preferably between the bores, being arranged in relation to the receiving bore in such a way that widening of the clamping bore results in a constriction of the receiving bore.

  • Patent number: 6468278
Abstract: A plate provides guides for preferably two screws, which hold the screws in a stable way at an angle against the plate. Furthermore, the screws are preferably fixed in a stable and removable way with a clamping device against rotations around the screw barrel and shifts in the direction of the screw barrel. For this a special screw is suitable with an outer thread diameter, which is larger than the neighboring barrel diameter. To ensure a secure guidance, the barrel diameter is enlarged in the area of the screw head.
