  • Publication number: 20060115841
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for elucidating the primary structure of biopolymers, in which a biopolymer to be investigated is cleaved into fragments and, after that, subjected to a mass spectrometric analysis (20) resulting in mass spectra being obtained, and in which known algorithms, are used for a first sequence analysis (30) of the fragments in order to determine a primary structure of the biopolymer using the mass spectra. The mass spectra are classified in dependence on results of the first sequence analysis (30), resulting in at least one first spectrum class, to which a known biopolymer can be assigned, and one second spectrum class, to which no known biopolymer can be assigned, being obtained. A further analysis (50) of mass spectra of the second spectrum class is carried out in dependence on the known biopolymer.

  • Patent number: 7025303
Abstract: A turning bar for contactless guidance of a tubular film web moved at a loop angle around the turning bar, including a support tube with a hollow interior, which can be connected with a compressed air source. The support tube has a plurality of air outlet openings which communicate with the interior and are spaced apart from each other, substantially over an entire width of the support tube within an angular area of the support tube corresponding to the loop angle of the tubular film web. An air-permeable microporous layer is applied to the exterior of the support tube and forms the surface of the latter, through which the compressed air exiting the air outlet openings of the support tube can flow. The compressed air exits the microporous layer as a laminar air flow, which forms a laminar air cushion between the turning bar and the tubular film web. An angular area in which the air outlet openings are formed in the support tube is increased with respect to the loop angle of the tubular film web.

  • Publication number: 20060070846
Abstract: An escalator handrail drive arrangement includes a drive belt (26) mounted within a drive housing (35). Pressure rollers (30) are mounted in pairs and pivotally attached to the drive housing. The pressure rollers bias a handrail (22) against the drive belt. The pressure roller arrangements are mounted at each axial end. A spring (44) biases the pressure roller arrangements against the handrail, with the spring being centered along the axial length of the pressure rollers. This spring is preferably mounted within the drive housing such that no additional space is required outwardly of the drive and roller arrangement to accommodate the spring.

  • Publication number: 20050173223
Abstract: An escalator drive assembly (30) includes a sensor that facilitates detecting when the normal drive assembly operation is interrupted, such that a brake should be activated. In one example, a sensor member (40) in the form of a flange (42) is associated with a drive pulley (34) and normally rotates in unison with the drive pulley. When there is a failure in the normal operation of the drive mechanism, however, there is a resulting relative movement between the sensor member (40) and the drive pulley (34). Such relative motion preferably activates a switch (80) that provides a signal that indicates a failure of the normal operation of the drive mechanism (30). Another example sensor includes a sensor member (202, 212) that engages a drive belt (35). If the belt (35) breaks, the sensor member (202, 212) moves to provide an indication of the broken belt condition. Various braking application modes are possible using the invention.
