  • Patent number: 10227733
Abstract: A rail vehicle includes a milling device for finishing the running surface of track rails during the travel of the rail vehicle along the track rails. The rail vehicle has a chassis frame having wheel sets. The milling device is provided with a milling head, and includes a framework arranged on the chassis frame having a milling head receptacle, which is displaceable vertically and transversely in relation thereto. The milling head receptacle can be supported for the vertical guiding via a guide shoe on the running surface and for transverse guiding in parallel to the milling head shaft via a guide stop laterally on the railhead. The milling head receptacle forms a transverse carriage, which supports the guide shoe and the guide stop, and the guide path of which, which is vertically displaceable, is provided on the side of the milling head receptacle facing toward the guide shoe.

  • Publication number: 20120288342
Abstract: A device (1) is described for reworking the running surface (17) of a rail head (2) by machining having a framework (5) guided along the rail head (2), in which two machining tools, which are drivable to rotate in opposite directions and can frontally approach the running surface (17), are mounted on both sides of the rail head (2). In order to be able to provide advantageous machining conditions, it is proposed that the machining tools be designed as face millers (11), whose rotational axes (12) extend in a common plane (13) and whose cutting areas overlap one another transversely to the longitudinal direction of the rail head (2), and the two face millers (11) be connected via a transfer case (10) to a common rotational drive (9).

  • Patent number: 4655109
Abstract: For severing long workpieces, in particular pipes of metal material, especially at high temperatures, in a normal plane relative to the axis at an arbitrary site with the aid of a metal-cutting tool, a workpiece is firmly clamped and at a standstill, while the tool is guided in an interrupted cut around the workpiece with continuous radial advancement. The tool remains in engagement with the workpiece over only a portion of its path, which is effected by way of example in that the central circling of the cutting movement has superimposed upon it an eccentric planetary movement, so that the line of cutting is not a continuous circular line. In an apparatus for performing this method, a knife head (3) equipped with cutting knives (5) is seated on the end toward the cut of a hollow working shaft (2) rotating in a housing (1). A hollow control shaft (7) is preferably supported centrally in the hollow working hsaft (2) carrying the knife head (3).

  • Patent number: 4604011
Abstract: Method and apparatus for machining the edges of sheet-like work pieces, using cutting elements disposed on rotating milling tools. The invention uses a conical tool with cutting tools on the conical jacket thereof. The active cutting tool which is closest to the work piece is located in the plane of the machining and a conical angle .alpha. in the range of about 150.degree. to about 180.degree. is utilized.
