  • Patent number: 5339504
Abstract: A tool turret includes a turret housing and a turret head rotatably mounted in and relative to the turret housing to selectable angular positions about a rotational axis. A preliminary indexing bolt secures the turret head in one of the angular positions following movement of the turret head between angular positions. A three-phase synchronous motor forms a rotary drive for the turret head and has at least first and second sets of pole pairs. The first set provides a first indexing speed. The second set has a smaller number of pole pairs then the first set and provides a second indexing speed. An interlocking member securely interlocks the turret head in any of angular positions.

  • Patent number: 5332344
Abstract: A spindle head for a tool turret has a housing in which a spindle is mounted rotatably. A rotation lock for the spindle includes a bushing arranged to be longitudinally slidable but nonrotatable on the spindle. A securing element is provided on the bushing. The bushing securing element, in its work setting, engages a securing element on the housing, limiting the axial movement of the bushing relative to the housing in the direction of the form-locking engagement of the two securing elements, and can be disengaged by an axial movement of the bushing counter to the force of a prebiased spring in a direction away from the housing securing element. At least some of the cooperating surfaces of the securing elements in the work setting are inclined with respect to the axial direction to a degree that excludes self-locking.

  • Patent number: 5226869
Abstract: For changing the tool disk connected detachably and rotatably to the housing of a tool turret, a work-locating fixture is provided. The tool disk can be moved out of its work setting in which it is coupled with the drive shaft for rotation by a rotary drive. The tool disk movement is in the axial direction of the drive shaft away from the housing until the tool disk reaches transfer position. The drive shaft and a tie rod coupled to the drive shaft are then rotated by the rotary drive out of a connected setting into a detached setting. In the detached setting, the connection between the tie rod, which tie rod is slidable in its axial position relative to the housing and the tool disk, is disconnected, so that the tie rod can then be lifted out of the tool disk.

  • Patent number: 5187847
Abstract: A tool turret includes two toothed rims concentric to the rotary axis of its turret head and arranged radially adjacent to one another. One rim is immovable relative to the turret head. The other rim is immovable relative to the turret housing. The teeth of the toothed rims point toward a position-locking member arranged in an axial direction adjacent and coaxial to both of the toothed rims. The toothed rims can be held by a piston which is axially slidable to a position-locking setting, in which its teeth engage the teeth of the two toothed rims without any play. The piston is part of a pneumatic assembly. The angle formed by the sides of each tooth of the toothed rims and the position-locking member is reduced from the conventional value of 60.degree.

  • Patent number: 5067371
Abstract: For controlling the locking of the rotatable tool holder of a tool turret, the angular position of the tool holder is determined by a rotating transmitter. The rotating transmitter is rotated corresponding to the rotary movement of a control and synchronization device. Digital signals are produced with the aid of the rotating transmitter. Each digital signal is associated with one angular position of those which may be selected. With each of these signals, the indicator is changed in those two angular positions of the control and synchronization device for locking and unlocking of the tool holder at each of its angular positions. The indicator is changed by the rotary movement of the device in one or the other direction out of the associated angular position and into the angular position associated with the locking of the tool holder. These rotary transmission signals are used to control the locking.

  • Patent number: 4989303
Abstract: A tool turret has a locking mechanism part axially slidable relative to the turret head with a face gear engaging face gears of the turret head and the housing in its locked position. The axial slidability of the locking mechanism part out of its locked position and the curtailibility of an opposing compression spring allows disengagement of the face gear of the locking mechanism part from at least one of the other two face gears. The force of the compression spring during the load on the turret head arising in disturbance-free operation is greater than the force working through this load on the locking mechanism part in the direction of disengagement of its face gear. In case of a collision with a stress exceeding the load capacity of the tool turret, the force of the compression spring is smaller than the collision force working through this load on the locking mechanism part in the direction of a disengagement of its face gear.
