  • Patent number: 5353506
Abstract: The invention is directed to a motor-driven chain saw having a drive motor arranged in a housing. The drive motor drives a saw chain on a guide bar via a sprocket wheel. The guide bar extends forwardly in the longitudinal direction of the chain saw and has an elongated slot in its rearward end facing toward the housing. Stud bolts fixed on the housing extend through the elongated slot in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the chain saw. The rearward end of the guide bar is clamped between the housing and a sprocket-wheel cover through which the stud bolts extend. A holding device separate from the sprocket-wheel cover is provided at the rearward end of the guide bar for holding the rearward end of the guide bar in its position on the housing when the sprocket-wheel cover is removed. This holding device reliably holds the guide bar for mounting the saw chain.

  • Patent number: 5345686
Abstract: The invention is directed to a cutting arrangement for a motor-driven chain saw and is configured as a preassembled component which includes a guide bar having a saw chain and sprocket drive wheel. A tensioning device is integrated into the guide bar for holding the parts of the component together. The tensioning device holds the sprocket drive wheel at a spacing from the end face of the guide bar. The tensioning device is adjustable when placing the component on the housing of the chain saw in such a manner that the sprocket drive wheel is released while the saw chain remains under tension. The component can be disassembled into its individual parts by adjusting the tensioning device.

  • Patent number: 5153967
Abstract: The invention is directed to a handle for a pull-rope starter. The handle includes a T-shaped base body having an elongated part extending in the direction of the pull rope and a handle part extending transversely to the elongated part. The elongated part has a receptacle for accommodating an elastic expansion element which is connected at one end thereof to the pull rope. The expansion element is supported at its other end on the base body. The expansion element is as long as possible and has the longest possible expansion path. This is achieved in that the expansion element is supported at its upper end on the base body with the upper end facing away from the pull rope. In this way, the expansion element is stretched thereby providing a longer expansion path.

  • Patent number: 5080379
Abstract: The invention is directed to a seal arranged between two housing parts of a muffler. The seal is configured essentially as a frame and made of sheet steel and has at least two layers. The first layer is defined by the frame itself and the second layer is defined by lugs which are folded over and are configured so as to be integral with the frame.

  • Patent number: 4867270
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust gas muffler for a two-stroke engine of a portable handheld tool such as a chain saw. The exhaust gas muffler includes a catalyzer wherein high exhaust gas temperatures are developed because of the exothermal reaction which takes place therein. The catalyzer is located in the forward portion of a gas-tight hollow body mounted in the housing of the muffler. The hollow body has a tapered portion which extends out of the housing in the direction of the exhaust gas flow. In this way, the surface temperature of the muffler housing is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4615497
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for the wings of a h speed aircraft, for increasing the flutter velocity. Aerodynamic auxiliary flaps or vortex generators are placed into an effective position in response to filtered sensor signals for causing a reduction in the local lift rise or for shifting the local neutral point toward the wing trailing edge to thereby provide an effective "flutter brake". The auxiliary flaps or vortex generators are activated only once when needed and stay in an activated effective position for a length of time sufficient for increasing the flutter velocity or speed and the activation takes place rapidly in about 200 to 400 milliseconds from the time the sensors pick up or provide a signal for such activation.
