  • Patent number: 6923554
Abstract: A light source module for a backlight module has a shield surrounding a linear light source above a casing below a diffuser, The shield has a diffusing portion and two light guide portions substantially perpendicularly connected between the diffusing portion and the casing. The diffusing portion is disposed parallel to the linear light source and has a grooved diffusion surface facing the linear light source adapted to reflect light from the linear light source toward the light guide portions. Each light guide portion has a grooved light guide surface disposed on an outer side away from the linear light source and adapted to refract and diffuse light rays toward a reflector on the casing.

  • Publication number: 20050128753
Abstract: A reflection-diffusion structure adopted for a lightguide plate has a left wall, a right wall, and a bottom wall, which all are made of reflection materials. A top wall connects to the bottom wall, the left wall and the right wall, and a receiving cavity is formed by the left wall, the right wall, the top wall and the bottom wall. The top wall has a size-adjustable diffusion area made of a diffusion material. The left wall, the right wall, the top wall and the bottom wall are made integrally in one piece. The reflection material and the diffusion material are made integrally in one piece.

  • Patent number: 6840656
Abstract: A light guiding plate according to the invention is mounted in a vertical backlight module between an illumination element and a diffusion plate. The light guiding plate has a flat light incidence surface at a bottom of the light guiding plate and a light emergence surface at a top of the light guiding plate. The light incidence surface faces the illumination element. The light emergence surface is adjacent to the diffusion plate and has a concave portion right above the illumination element. The concave portion of the light guiding plate further diffuses the light transmitted right above the illumination element to homogenize the light emergence and increase the glow for display of the backlight module. The total thickness of the vertical backlight module thereby is reduced to minimize the volume of the backlight module.

  • Publication number: 20040201978
Abstract: A light source structure has a guidelight plate, a lighting unit with a lighting member and a plurality of lighting components respectively disposed on sides of the guidelight plate. According to particular locations of the lighting member and the lighting components, the light source structure is thin, small, and cheap, with the added benefits of a high luminance and a high uniformity thereof.

  • Publication number: 20040165273
Abstract: An optical module with optical transmission and diffusion elements has a base, an optical transmission element, an optical diffusion element and a light source. The optical transmission element is made of a transparent material and is formed on one surface of the base, with a light-emerging surface separated from the base. The optical diffusion element is closely attached to the light-emerging surface by fusing to form a light-incidence surface directly in contact with the light-emerging surface. The light source is located between the base and the optical transmission element. With the close attachment of the optically transmitting and diffusion elements, the light travels without loss and thus provides enough brightness and homogeneity.
