  • Patent number: 4528815
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the supercharging pressure in a turbocompressed engine, of the type including a turbocompressor the turbine portion of which is supplied through the exhaust pipe of the engine, with a shunted dump-valve, while the compressor portion supplies the engine's intake piping which is provided with a butterfly valve, and in which the dump-valve is controlled by a pneumatic actuating cylinder having a return spring for closing the actuator and a control chamber which is connected through a connection tube to either intake piping or to exhaust pipe, and a delay valve inserted within said connection tube, with the valve including a throttling constriction and a check valve set up in parallel.

  • Patent number: 4528816
Abstract: An apparatus for pneumatic control of supercharging pressure in a turbocompressed engine, characterized by the fact that the spring of a pneumatic actuator opens a dump valve, and that a collection pipe receives the pressure in the intake pipe above the butterfly valve and below the compressor and transmits the pressure to two parallel tubes, one leading to the closing chamber of the actuator, and the other leading through a throttling constriction to the opening chamber of this actuator, which chamber communicates through a tube and through a pressure valve with the atmosphere, while a third tube supplies the control chamber of the pressure valve.

  • Patent number: 4479478
Abstract: A device is disclosed for controlling the recirculation of exhaust gas for an internal combustion engine 1 in which an air-fuel mixture intake pipe 2 and an exhaust pipe 3 are connected with each other by a recirculation circuit having a main valve 4 and connecting pipes 5 and 6. This valve 4 is controlled by the partial vacuum prevailing at the venturi V of the intake pipe 2 by a solenoid valve 14. According to the invention, this control device includes a control system 13 having an additive type pneumatic amplifier 17 that generates a partial vacuum signal for the control of this main valve 4 whose strength is greater than the value of partial vacuum at the nozzle 16 of the venturi throat V, with a constant value in a range of extended operation. Application is particularly to internal combustion engines equipped with a system for recirculation of exhaust gas.

  • Patent number: 3978834
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the recirculation of exhaust gases within internal combustion engines, includes a recycling system of conduits connecting the engine exhaust manifold to the main inlet manifold of the carburetion system and having a recirculating valve interposed within such circuit. The obturator of the recirculation valve has a truncated-cone configuration of such design that the increase in the variable area of the opening between the stopper or obturator and its seat is a function of the engine speed and load. In recycling the exhaust gases, the invention serves as an antipollution means for the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 3977188
Abstract: An improved apparatus for injecting fluid into an internal combustion engine includes a fluid conduit in the engine's cylinder head for discharging fluid into the zone of the valve head. The fluid conduit outlet is positioned so that when the valve is in the seated or closed position, the outlet is substantially closed, and when the valve is in the open, unseated position, the outlet is open, thereby permitting a substantial flow of fluid through the conduit only when the valve is open.
