An operating lever is shaped and designed to work together with the control device for adjusting and indexing. The lever may be started from a neutral position to effect a tensioning or slackening of the cable on each reversal of the direction of a pivoting of the lever. The cable can be acted on to move the chair guide transversely for changing or selecting one or more gears, depending on whether or not there is a pedalling action.

Abstract: The object of the invention pertains more particularly to the art units of the manufacturing of rotary organs for the production and assembly of organs of plastics. The method is characterized in that toothed rotary organs (2) are made by molding directly with their rotational axis (1a) and their supporting cheek (1), and that a countercheek (3) is then made which is equipped for receiving for free rotation the toothed organs (2) and designed for a forced fit on the axis (1a) after the two cheeks have been brought nearer under pressure towards one another, in order to cause the fastening portions (2d) which connect the axes (1a) with the organs (2) to be broken off. The invention is more particularly to be used with the chain guide means of the gear shift devices of bicycles and similar vehicles.

Abstract: A control device for shifting gears on a cycle wherein a hand lever is operational coupled by a semi-rigid control tie which is coupled to the transmission assembly at the hub. The transmission assembly with a link mechanism which is angularly pivoted by the control tie thereby moving a rack having two at least partly superposed pawls which engage notches in a rack which is coupled to a pin. The pin is slidable mounted so that the pawls can position the pin as required for shifting the chain guide. The extreme notches of the rack are partially obturated to prevent shifting above and below the proper sprocket prevent damage to the device.

A carriage is provided for securing metallic body wires of a saddle and supporting the saddle while permitting adjustment of the position of the saddle in the general axis of a bicycle with respect to the saddle shank. The saddle shank has a saddle supporting carriage, having one end mounted for pivotal abutment on the head, and another end of the carriage abutting against an adjustable stop which supports the head. Abstract: A method and apparatus for the control of respective speed change gear units at the rear wheel and crank-wheel of a bicycle comprising two pivotable levers mounted on the bicycle each including an integral bearing with a groove therein. A cable is associated with each of the speed change gear units and is operatively coupled in the groove of a bearing of a respective pivotal lever. The cables are wound on the respective bearing of the levers in opposite directions as viewed from the same side of the bicycle such that when the levers are pivotably moved in one direction, one cable is pulled in tension and the other cable is released.
