  • Publication number: 20120136298
Abstract: A device (1) for mixing substances to obtain an injectable medical product, the device (1) comprising a cartridge (50), a front piston (5), a front chamber (17) containing a liquid or a powder, a rear piston (6), a rear chamber (18) containing a liquid, a piston rod (7), and a bypass channel (19). The piston rod (7) is adapted to advance the rear piston (6) to collapse the rear chamber (18), whereby the liquid in the rear chamber (18) is forced to move to the front chamber (17) via the bypass channel (19). The piston rod (7) has a projection (10) which is adapted to mate with a recess (12) in the front piston (5) to provide an interlocking between the two components.

  • Publication number: 20120109046
Abstract: The invention relates to a medicament delivery device (1, 100) for delivering one or more solid dose pegs (10, 110) through the skin. The device (1, 100) has a number of exit openings (9, 109) corresponding to the number of solid dose pegs (10, 110) to be delivered. A detachable portion (3, 103) of the device (1, 100) is removed before use to uncover the exit openings (9, 109) and a release rod (17, 117). When the exit openings (9, 109) are pressed against the skin the release rod (17, 117) automatically disables a safety mechanism adapted to prevent unintended activation of the device (1, 100).

  • Patent number: 6755810
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transfer device for transferring medicament from a medicament container to a syringe with a needle. The transfer device is arranged for transferring accurate dosages of insulin, growth hormone or other medicaments. The accuracy is ensured by the device comprising means for mounting a syringe to the device, the needle piercing a sealing of the device. Opposite the sealing a piston is arranged, said piston being non-releasable engaged with the piston driver during transfer of the medicament. Thereby the piston is not erroneously drawn from the piston driver, which would otherwise lead to incorrect dosing. Furthermore, the device comprises dosing means including the piston driver.

  • Patent number: 6726661
Abstract: Described is an electronic injection device wherein an electronic circuit is designed to work in two alternative modes: an air shot mode and a dose injection mode. When working in the air shot mode a small predetermined air shot dose is pressed out from the ampule when the injection button is actuated. When working in the injection mode, a dose set by operation of the dose setting means is injected by operation of the injection button. The electronic injection device is normally working in the air shot mode but shifts to work in the dose injection mode when it receives a signal indicating that the dose setting means has been operated. The circuit returns to its air shot mode when receiving a signal indicating that the set dose has been injected. This signal can originate either from a switch indicating that the protection cap is mounted or from a switch indicating that the injection button has been pressed.

  • Publication number: 20030187422
Abstract: In a medical injection device an ampoule containing a fluid to be injected has a resilient piston closing on one end of the ampoule, which resilient piston is moved forward by a plunger. A membrane closes the other end of the ampoule. An injection needle projecting through the membrane of the ampoule and into the ampoule is mounted prior to use. To protect the pointed end of the needle projecting into the ampoule from being damaged by the resilient piston when the ampoule is about to be empty and the piston is moved close to the membrane, the resilient piston has a central part of the front wall lowered relative to the rest of the front wall to provide a central well in the front wall.

  • Patent number: 6474219
Abstract: A flexible piston rod for an injection device, which piston has the form of a helical spring made from a number of narrowly adjacent turns of windings. These turns provide an external thread fitting into the internal thread of a nut element. When the nut element is rotated, the piston rod is advanced forward, which movement is used to displace a piston inside a cartridge containing a fluid to be expelled. In order to prevent the piston rod from rotating when the nut element is rotated, the helical spring making up the piston rod is provided with a longitudinal spine, which is located at a peripheral area of the helical spring.

  • Patent number: 6340357
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drug delivery device wherein a dose to be apportioned from a cartridge is set by changing the relative position of co-operating dose setting elements (3, 5) and is injected by pressing a button (5) until this button abuts a stop (6). By operation of count up (7) or count down (8) buttons the dose is set and read into an electronic circuit (9) comprising a microprocessor and the dose setting movement of the dose setting elements relative to each other is performed by a motor (11) controlled by the circuit in accordance with the read in dose. The set dose is shown on a display (10). The motor (11) is further controlled to perform certain movements of the piston rod (3) so as retraction of this rod when a cartridge (1) is going to be changed an advancing of the piston rod to abutment with the piston (2) after the cartridge has been changed and further to advance this piston to expel air from the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6010485
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drug delivery system, comprising a reservoir from which set doses are apportioned, a dose setting mechanism by which the relative position of two elements is changed by a distance proportional to a set dose, and a push button by activation of which an element is moved a distance corresponding to the distance proportional to the set dose, further comprises a working cylinder having an open end into which a plunger fits, and a closed end at which an inlet and an outlet port connect the space beneath the plunger with an inlet communicating with the reservoir and an outlet communicating with a drug delivery member, respectively. Valves means at the inlet and outlet control the passages from the reservoir to the working cylinder and from the working cylinder to the drug delivery member, respectively. The cylinder with the plunger, and the injection member are independently exchangeable, disposable parts.
