  • Patent number: 6553980
Abstract: A manifold for a fuel injected engine has several fuel injectors that are connected to a common air assist passageway for each bank of cylinders. This passageway is preferably supplied with assist air from a central location, between two of the fuel injector pockets that intersect the air assist passageway in each bank of cylinders. This air assist passageway may be formed integral with a manifold, or may be separately formed together with the injector pockets as an air assist rail. The air assist passageway preferably intersects the center line of the fuel injector pockets and is formed by inserting pins that define the interior surface of the passageway into a mold cavity to intersect and pass through bosses that define the fuel injector pockets.

  • Patent number: 6414468
Abstract: A system for deriving electrical power from an engine includes a current inducing module that supplies current to a load such as a chargeable power source. The current inducing module preferably includes a magnet and coil arrangement. The magnet is associated with a rotating element of the engine such that the magnet passes by the coil as the engine element rotates. The current that is induced in the coil is handled using current regulating components to control the amount of power supplied to the chargeable power source. The invention provides a way to electrically power components associated with devices that do not have a battery.

  • Patent number: 5657733
Abstract: A mounting arrangement and method for installing fuel injectors in a molded composite intake manifold having an integral fuel rail portion in which the injectors are first assembled into bores in the fuel rail portion, and the intake manifold advanced onto a cylinder head surface having bores extending perpendicularly into the surface so as to allow the tips of the fuel injectors to be seated therein at the same time as the manifold is mounted. Air assist passages are also integrally formed in the intake manifold aligned with passages in the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 5394850
Abstract: A rigid connector tube telescopically engages the fuel rail and the inlet of a top-feed fuel injector. Various embodiments of such connector tubes are disclosed. Such connector tubes enable a top-feed fuel injector to be used in an integrated air-fuel system where a fuel rail is integrally formed with a manifold such that the fuel supply ports of the fuel rail are in fixed spatial relation to the fuel injection ports of the manifold.

  • Patent number: 5190013
Abstract: When one of the combustion chambers is found to be operating non-compliantly, it is deactivated by the engine management computer preventing the electronic valve control computer from opening the solenoid-actuated intake valve for that combustion chamber.
