  • Patent number: 4533201
Abstract: A bridge tap connector is formed by a pair of top and bottom covers. The bottom cover has a plurality of terminals secured therein, each terminal having a pair of slotted plate configurations extending normal to each other and to the plane of the bottom cover. Like pluralities of first and second pairs of conductor gripping means are spaced on opposite sides of each terminal, each pair aligned to secure a conductor overlying a respective slotted plate. Conductors of a tap cable are dressed in the bottom cover and secured by the first pairs of gripping means. Conductors of a continuous cable are dressed in the bottom cover and secured by the second pairs of gripping means overlying and normal to the tap cable conductors. Stuffer means integral with the top cover drive the conductors into terminating engagement in the respective slotted plates when the top cover is applied to the bottom cover.

  • Patent number: 4349239
Abstract: Multi-contact electrical connector comprises a rectangular housing having a wire-receiving face and an oppositely directed mating face and contact terminals mounted therein. Housing has aligning means thereon which guide the mating face normally against the mating face of a complementary connector then parallel thereto. Terminals have wire-receiving portions extending from the wire-receiving face and mating portions extending from the mating face which mate laterally with mating portions of complementary terminals during parallel movement of mating faces. Leverage means are provided on the housings so that little force is required to engage or disengage the connectors. Connector and complementary connector may be identical and the preferred terminals are identical and hermaphroditic.

  • Patent number: 4221445
Abstract: A telecommunications distributing system for use in a building requiring a large number of telephone circuits is disclosed. The assembly employs multi-conductor connectors having two rows of terminals attached to the ends of incoming and outgoing telephone cables. A jumper connector assembly for interconnecting corresponding incoming and outgoing wire pairs is also employed. In one embodiment, the jumper connector establishes an edge contact with the terminals in the multi-conductor connector to minimize the width of the jumper connector.

  • Patent number: 4178055
Abstract: Connector for connecting pairs of wires to each other comprises an insulating housing having oppositely directed wire-receiving ends. An electrical connecting device is mounted in each of the ends and wire admitting slots extend from each end partially across one wall of the housing. Corresponding wires of two pairs of wires are connected to each other by moving the wires laterally of their axes towards the wire-receiving ends, through the wire admitting slots, and into the connecting means. A plurality of such connectors are mounted on a continuous carrier strip which can be fed through a semi-automatic wire insertion apparatus. An alternative embodiment is disclosed for connecting a pair of tap wires to a pair of through wires.

  • Patent number: 4127312
Abstract: Multi-conductor electrical connector comprises a body member having oppositely directed first and second faces and contact terminals mounted therein. The terminals have wire-receiving portions extending from the first face and have receptacle portions on the second face, the receptacle portions being dimensioned to be mated with a contact portion of a similar or identical terminal. The first and second faces are complementary to each other so that the connector body can be plugged at both faces to another connector body. The connector body can be used with an identical connector body or with other housing parts to form a pluggable multi-wire splice, a tap connection, and to install new equipment in a telephone cable.
