  • Publication number: 20110107159
Abstract: Apparatus, systems and methods are described that facilitate the detection of errors within a remote control for a controlled device. A remote control detects an error condition during operation and transmits information regarding the error to a controlled device. The information regarding the error may be analyzed to determine the source of the problem in the remote control and/or possible solutions.

  • Publication number: 20110090408
Abstract: A remote control and method of programming a remote control for controlling components in an entertainment system are disclosed. The remote control may operate in multiple modes including a limited mode that prevents the remote control from sending predetermined commands to one or more components, even when instructed to do so by the user. In addition, the remote control may issue one or more commands to each component in response to a single user input.

  • Publication number: 20110059695
Abstract: Various embodiments of apparatus and systems are provided for electrically isolating two devices while transferring power and RF signals therebetween. An electrical isolation apparatus includes an isolation transformer communicatively coupled to a first device. The isolation transformer operates to electronically isolate the first device from the second device and transfer power from the first device to the second device. A decoupling device of the apparatus transfers radio frequency (RF) signals between the first device and the second device.

  • Publication number: 20110040856
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and device that can easily configure an entertainment system automatically or semi-automatically. The reconfiguration of the entertainment system can be achieved by cycling through the possible configurations of the entertainment system (i.e. different combinations of operational states of the components that make up the entertainment system) by changing various operational states of certain components until an operable configuration is found. The invention may be implemented in any component of the entertainment system including a set-top-box, satellite receiver or a remote control.

  • Publication number: 20100083319
Abstract: The various embodiments described herein facilitate the identification of television content related to a specific search descriptor and genre. A user provides input requesting to locate television content related to a particular search descriptor and genre. A search keyword is identified based on the search descriptor and a search of an electronic programming guide is performed based on the search keyword to generate intermediate search results of television events related to the search descriptor. A filtering operation is performed on the intermediate search results using one or more filters identified based on the programming genre to generate final search results. The final search results thus include content that both matches the search keyword and has characteristics of the programming genre of content requested by the user.
