Abstract: A location brokerage system is described herein. A plurality of computing devices that are configured to output data that is indicative of a geographic location of a user are registered with the location brokerage system, and a plurality of location-based applications are registered with the location brokerage system. The location brokerage system collaborates with the computing devices to obtain location data pertaining to the user that satisfies requests for location data from the location-based application while enforcing operating restrictions/parameters imposed by the user and/or the location-based applications.

Abstract: Among other things, in a network, a mechanism enables a resource that has a pre-assigned unique identifier and is not otherwise capable itself of being accessible on the network, to maintain a resolution record for the resource in an identifier resolution mechanism of the network where the resolution record associating the identifier with an address or other information useful in enabling the accessibility of the resource on the network through the mechanism.
