  • Patent number: 7757472
Abstract: A synthetic fiber cable has the strands of a strand layer mutually spaced apart. With the mutual spacing, the strands of the outer strand layer can move radially in the direction of the cable center and exert a radial pressure on the strands of the first inner strand layer. The radial pressure is passed on from the strands of the first inner strand layer to the strands of the second inner strand layer. The radial pressure is passed on from the strands of the second inner strand layer to the core strand. The radial pressure increases inwardly from strand layer to strand layer. The soft cable sheathing does not act as a support between the strands in circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 6092630
Abstract: An arresting brake device with triggering equipment for elevators provides different braking effect in upward and downward directions of travel. The device includes a tiltable rocker, as a barrier element, provided with an articulated two-point bearing in yielding joint pans. The rocker is operatively connected with a movable brake shoe and is, on actuation by triggering equipment, tilted by entraining members up to an abutment beyond or ahead of its dead center according to the direction of travel of an elevator car in upward or downward directions. By the tilting movement, one or the other yielding joint pan is pushed against a biased adjustable compression spring and the movable brake shoe and a fixed brake shoe are accordingly urged against a guide rail. The compression springs, which are arranged in a spring block, can each be biased separately in a variable manner by a respective setting screw.

  • Patent number: 5255760
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting and signaling the function and the status of an electronically actuated two-circuit safety disk brake for elevators includes an axially moveable spring centering bolt and a sliding block attached to each of a pair of brake shoes for actuating position sensors. A force imbalance due to breakage of a brake pressure spring displaces the spring centering bolt from its neutral position and actuates a microswitch of a first position sensor by way of sliding block attached to the bolt to generate a signal to a monitoring circuit. A double switching arm formed on the sliding blocks attached to the brake shoes signals not only the normal closure and opening movements of the brake, but causes, on exceeding an admissible wear of the brake lining for the first time, an alarm switching cycle of a microswitch of a second position sensor.

  • Patent number: 4619444
Abstract: A rotary sliding closure unit includes stationary and rotary refractory members having respective discharge openings and fixed and rotary mounting devices for supporting the respective refractory members. The rotary member is rotated by the rotary mounting device with respect to the stationary refractory member along respective complementary abutting sliding surfaces thereof. Air is prevented from contacting the abutting sliding surfaces by an annular chamber defined between the fixed and rotary mounting devices and closed by an annular seal positioned therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4586699
Abstract: A refractory plate assembly for use as a stationary or a movable refractory plate in a sliding closure unit includes a refractory supporting body and a refractory disc-shaped member forming a sliding sealing surface of the assembly. The disc-shaped member is loosely and removably mounted to the supporting body in a manner to prevent the disc-shaped member from working loose from and moving relative to the supporting body.

  • Patent number: 4557462
Abstract: A rotary valve assembly for use in regulating the flow of molten material includes a stator member having therethrough a flow opening and adapted to be fixed to a source of molten material with the flow opening communicating with such source. The stator member has therein a rotor-receiving opening interrupting the flow opening and defined by a conical bearing surface. A frusto-conical shaped rotor member extends into the rotor-receiving opening, and the rotor member has an outer surface complementary to the bearing surface of the stator member. The rotor member has extending laterally therethrough a flow opening which, upon rotation of the rotor member with respect to the stator member, may be moved into and out of alignment with the flow opening of the stator member. A power driven device is provided to rotate the rotor member with respect to the stator member, thereby to selectively regulate the relative degree of alignment of the flow openings.

  • Patent number: 4385715
Abstract: A rotary sliding closure unit for use in a liquid melt container extends inwardly through the jacket of the container and into the lining thereof to selectively block and unblock a pouring opening of the container. The unit includes a stationary refractory plate positioned within the lining and having therethrough a flow passage in communication with the pouring opening, and a rotary refractory plate positioned in sliding abutting contact with the stationary refractory plate and having therethrough at least one flow passage to be selectively moved into and out of alignment with the flow passage of the stationary refractory plate. The two refractory plates have complementary abutting relative sliding surfaces located within the interior of the jacket of the container.
