  • Patent number: 6976285
Abstract: The invention relates to a four-hinged wiper arm for a windshield wiper system, especially for an automobile wherein a connecting rod is pivotally connected to a driving arm in a first bearing point and to a control arm in a second bearing point. A hinged part is coupled to the connecting rod. A wiper blade that can be placed on the hinged part or on a wiper rod connected to the hinged part can be pressed against the windshield to be wiped by a spring element that is mounted on the four-hinged wiper arm. In order to ensure good wiping quality and low-noise operation over a long service period, the invention provides that the connecting rod or the driving arm or the control arm is fitted with an antifriction bearing at least one of the two locating points of the four hinged wiper arm. According to advantageous embodiments of the invention, the four-hinged wiper arm is fitted with an antifriction bearing on both bearing points, whereby the antifriction bearing is preferably a deep groove ball bearing.

  • Patent number: 5647680
Abstract: A wiper arm for cleaning the windscreen of an automotive vehicle. The wiper arm includes a fastening component which is provided with a receptacle for a wiper shaft, which receptacle is integrally molded to a sheet metal component forming a back and is flanked by side walls connected with the back. The receptacle, back and side walls are integrally molded in one piece to the fastening component, a flat construction and, simultaneously, a capacity for transmitting high torques are achieved in that the edges of the deep-drawn fastening component or rather the edges of the receptacle and of the side walls point towards the windscreen of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4893374
Abstract: In a windshield wiper system a washing liquid channel runs through a bore in the wiper shaft and extends through a bore in the cap of a wiper arm, so that in the operating position of the cap the nozzle is arranged on that side of the cap which is opposite a fastening member, so that, in comparison with prior constructions, good cleaning effect is achieved due to an enlarged spacing between nozzle and window pane to be cleaned. So that the protruding nozzle body does not impede swivelling of the cap, the bore in the cap is larger than the outer diameter of the nozzle body and the annular gap between the rim of the bore in the cap and the nozzle body may be closed by an additional cap.

  • Patent number: 4736484
Abstract: In a windshield wiper system for motor vehicles the contact pressure of the wiper onto the window is adjustable while the wiper is moving. For this purpose a multi-part actuator driven by an electromotive adjusting device and guided in a bore of the wiper shaft is axially displaced. The multi-part construction of this actuator compensates for faulty alignment, so that the adjusting mechanism operates with a good efficiency and enables rapid adjusting times.

  • Patent number: 4472854
Abstract: In a windshield wiper assembly, the contact pressure of the wiper blades against the windshield is varied by displacing the wiper shaft in a direction along the axis of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4370774
Abstract: Windshield wiper assemblies include apparatus to compensate for lifting forces exerted on a wiper arm and blade when a vehicle travels at high speeds. The wiper assemblies include a wiper arm spring connected to a wiper rod which carries the wiper blade. One end of the spring is connected to a pin mounted on a lever. The lever is pivotally movable so that the spring force on the wiper rod may be increased to compensate for lifting forces.
