  • Patent number: 8102969
Abstract: An x-ray device has a cathode aligned on a target region in a tube housing with a rotating anode unit. The rotating anode unit is borne to rotate around a rotational axis inside the tube housing. The rotating anode unit has a rotating anode plate with the target region and a shaft rotationally connected with the rotating anode plate. A magnetic bearing supports the shaft without contact in the tube housing. The rotating anode plate has an axial extension facing away from the shaft. The axial extension dips into a fluid-filled receptacle space of the tube housing for heat dissipation. Such an x-ray device allows high rotation speeds of the rotating anode unit, and thus a high operational power.

  • Patent number: 7050541
Abstract: An x-ray tube has a stationary cathode and a rotating anode in a vacuum housing. The anode is positioned on a housing-fixed axle such that it can be rotated, and is fashioned as a hollow body in the interior of which an axle-fixed ring projection is disposed, such that, at least between an inner surface of the rotating anode and the adjacent outer surface of the ring projection, a gap exists that is filled with liquid metal and forms a liquid-metal fluid bearing for the rotating anode.

  • Patent number: 6385280
Abstract: An x-ray CT apparatus has an x-ray source which emits an x-ray beam which is displaceable relative to an examination subject, the x-ray source emitting x-rays in the form of one or more pulses during the registration of a projection. An arrangement for modulating the x-ray power sets the duration of the pulses dependent on an angle attenuation profile of the examination subject for the individual projections, such that the mAs product applied for the individual projections correspond to the curve of the angle attenuation profile.

  • Patent number: 5511104
Abstract: An x-ray tube, in addition to an anode and a cathode arrangement, has first and second electrodes that are located in an evacuated housing provided with a beam exit window. The anode and the first electrode are at potentials that are positive in comparison to the potentials of the cathode arrangement and the second electrode. Further, the first and the second electrode are arranged lying opposite one another such that secondary electrons emanating from the anode must pass through the space located between the first and the second electrode in order to proceed to the beam exit window. These secondary electrons are thus substantially all prevented from reaching the beam exit window, thereby avoiding excessive heating of the beam exit window.

  • Patent number: 4949369
Abstract: An x-ray tube has a stationary cathode and a rotating anode contained in an evacuated housing. The anode is mounted on a stationary shaft on bearings. The anode has a hollow interior, in which a stationary heat-absorption member is disposed, also mounted to the shaft. The shaft is in the form of a tube, with the interior thereof being charged by a coolant. The coolant circulates through the heat-absorption member within the hollow interior of the anode to dissipate heat from the anode generated during the production of x-rays.
