Abstract: A number of logic state catching circuits are described which use a logic circuit with a first input, a second input, and an output. The logic circuit is configured to respond to a change in state of a data value coupled to the first input causing a representative value of the data value to be generated on the output. The second input receives a latched version of the data value to hold the representative value on the output after the data value has returned to its original state. A latching element is configured to respond to the change in state of the data value by latching the data value and to couple the latched version of the data value to the second input. A reset element is configured to respond to a change in state of a clock input by resetting the latching element.

Abstract: Power consumption in a multi-level hierarchical Content Addressable Memory (CAM) circuit is reduced without adversely impacting performance. According to one embodiment of a multi-level hierarchical CAM circuit, the CAM circuit comprises a plurality of lower-level match lines, a plurality of higher-level match lines and match line restoration circuitry. The lower-level match lines are configured to be restored to a pre-evaluation state during a pre-evaluation period. The higher-level match lines are configured to capture an evaluation state of respective groups of one or more of the lower-level match lines during an evaluation period and to be restored to a pre-evaluation state during the pre-evaluation period. The match line restoration circuitry is configured to prevent at least one of the lower-level match lines from being restored to the pre-evaluation state responsive to corresponding enable information, e.g., one or more bits indicating whether match line search results are to be utilized.

Abstract: Content Addressable Memory (CAM) search operations are aborted in response to a search abort signal, thus preserving previous CAM search results. In one embodiment, a CAM search operation is aborted by activating a local CAM match line in response to a search field provided to a CAM and preventing activation of a global CAM match line associated with the local CAM match line in response to a search abort signal. By preventing activation of global CAM match lines, monotonic storage devices included in a holding register that captures CAM search results are prevented from overwriting previously stored CAM search results.

Abstract: A multimode, uniform-latency clock generation circuit (CGC) is described herein. In one example, the multimode, uniform-latency CGC generates a pulse clock signal via a clock generation path responsive to a clock chopping signal being active and generates a phase clock signal via the same clock generation path responsive to the clock chopping signal being inactive. The clock chopping signal is activated responsive to a mode control input signal being in a first state and deactivated responsive to either the mode control input signal being in a second state or a plurality of clock enable signals being inactive. In one or more embodiments, a multimode, uniform-latency CGC is included in a microprocessor for providing pulse clock signals to inter-stage pulsed sequential storage elements when operating in a timing sensitive mode and for providing phase clock signals to the inter-stage pulsed sequential storage elements when operating in a timing insensitive mode.

Abstract: A multi-enabled clock gating circuit reduces clock enable setup time. In one example, the multi-enabled clock gating circuit comprises an OAI logic gate and a clock enable control circuit. The OAI logic gate is configured to generate a gated clock signal by inverting an input clock signal responsive to one of a timing-sensitive clock enable signal and a timing-insensitive clock enable signal being active. The clock enable control circuit is configured to prevent the OAI logic gate from receiving the timing-insensitive clock enable signal responsive to the timing-sensitive clock enable signal being active. In one or more embodiments, a multi-enabled clock gating circuit having reduced clock enable setup time may be included in an integrated circuit for implementing clock gating during different operating modes of the integrated circuit.

Abstract: Techniques for reducing power when reading a full-swing memory array are disclosed. The full-swing memory array includes a plurality of local bit lines and a global bit line. In order to reduce power consumption, a method of driving the global bit line includes the step of coupling the plurality of local bit lines to the global bit line through a plurality of tri-state devices. The method further includes the steps of generating a global select signal to enable one of the plurality of tri-state devices and selecting a corresponding local bit line to drive the output of the enabled tri-state device. In this way, the global bit line is statically driven so that consecutive reads of bits having the same value read over the global bit line do not result in transitioning the state of the global bit line.

Abstract: A CAM bank is functionally divided into two or more sub-banks, without replicating CAM driver circuits, by disabling all match line discharge circuits in the bank, and selectively enabling the discharge circuits in entries comprising sub-banks. At least one selectively actuated switching circuit is interposed between the virtual ground node of each discharging comparator in the discharge circuit of a sub-bank and circuit ground. When the switching circuit is in a non-conductive state, the virtual ground node is maintained at a voltage level sufficiently above circuit ground to preclude discharging a connected match line within the CAM access time. When the switching circuit is placed in a conductive state, the virtual ground node is pulled to circuit ground and the connected match line may be discharged by a miscompare. Control signals, which may be decoded from address bits, are distributed to the switching circuits to define the CAM sub-banks.

Abstract: A method for increasing an adhesive to a substrate is disclosed which utilizes a hydrophilic, high molecular weight, nonionic polyurethane adhesive. The polyurethane adhesive is soluble in water and a 1% by weight solution of the adhesive in water at 20% has a specific viscosity of at least 0.4. The nonionic polyurethane contains the following structural units: a) —O—(CH2—CH2O)n where n is 8 to 500; b) —CO—NH—X—NHCO— where X is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic group; and c) —O—Y—O— wherein Y comprises a hydrophobic moiety from the groups (—CH2—CH(CH3)—O)m—CH2—CH(CH3)—, (—CH2 CH(C2H5)—O)m—CH2—CH(C2H5)—, (—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2O)m—CH2CH2CH2CH2—, alkylene groups having from 2 to 44 carbon atoms, cycloalkylene groups having from 6 to 44 carbon atoms and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a contact adhesive based on a polyurethane of at least one diisocyanate and at least one low molecular weight polyethylene glycol, the polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of up to 2,000 and the polyurethane having a degrees of crystallization of less than 20%. The contact adhesive can be applied from the melt or from an aqueous solution or dispersion. Surprisingly, it is suitable not only for polar plastic surface, but above all for PE and PP surfaces and of course for paper. Accordingly, the contact adhesive is preferably useful for applying paper labels to PE bottles.

Abstract: The bondability of a polyolefin, particularly to cyanoacrylate adhesives, is improved by incorporating in the polyolefin a polymerization initiator capable of initiating the polymerization of the monomers constituting the cyanoacrylate adhesive. The polymerization initiator may, for example, be a sterically hindered nitrogen base and may be mixed with the polyolefin at a temperature above the polyolefin's glass transition temperature using, for example, co-extrusion or co-injection methods.
