  • Patent number: 7845175
Abstract: A heat shield for mounting on a heat-radiating object, particularly on a rocket engine comprises a first planar element having a front side and a back side. In its mounted state, the first planar element extending from the heat-radiating object toward the outside, with its front side being exposed to the heat radiation at least of a section of the heat-radiating object. A second insulating element having a front side and a back side is arranged on the back side of the first planar element in such a manner that a gap is formed between the back side of the first planar element and the front side of the second element. In the mounted state of the heat shield, the gap widens in the direction from the heat-radiating object toward the outside.

  • Patent number: 6817184
Abstract: A nozzle extension including flange elements of C/SiC is able to be manufactured relatively simply and provides sufficient physical properties. The carbon-fiber structure of the nozzle extension is wound, and a flange for fastening the nozzle extension to the nozzle outlet of the combustion chamber is integrated in the nozzle extension by a continuous fiber flow of the wound carbon-fiber structure. The foregoing may be intended for use in rocket propulsion units.

  • Patent number: 6668543
Abstract: A rocket propulsion unit with an outer casing and an inner casing is described whereby the inner casing is arranged with space between the outer casing, and the inner casing forms a combustion chamber and has a contour adapted to the expulsion of propellants out of the combustion chamber with a constriction for forming a combustion chamber neck. The outer casing in contrast has a contour deviating from the contour of the inner casing.
