  • Patent number: 9182344
Abstract: Describes a device which embodies a method of providing a periodic test light-source beam directed at a nephelometric turbidimeter's scattered-light detector window to detect any film build-up on the scattered-light detector's optical surfaces by means of a change in reading from a previous reading.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 10, 2015
    Inventor: Herbert Mitchell
  • Patent number: 8889421
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a kit and method for the colorimetric detection of precursors used in the assembly of homemade explosives (HMEs). More specifically, the present invention relates to a bulk HME precursor detection kit and methods of using a kit that is capable of bulk detection of HME precursors, such as urea nitrate, ammonium nitrate and potassium chlorate.

  • Patent number: 5918636
Abstract: A fuel economizer device including a conduit through which fuel flows, a Faraday housing around part of the conduit and end caps at each end of the housing for mounting the housing to the conduit. Magnets of Neodymium material are mounted in the housing along the conduit. The conduit is flattened at respective magnet receiving locations and the magnets themselves are of a flattened construction to engage as much as possible of the flattened face of the magnets with the conduit, thereby concentrating the magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 4093939
Abstract: The invention provides an accessory for a vehicle, the accessory having a sensor for sensing the acceleration of the vehicle, the speed of the vehicle or the operating speed of an engine of the vehicle, a first recorder for recording when any of these parameters is excessive, detectors for detecting whether the vehicle is in motion or the engine is in operation and a second recorder for recording the amount of time the vehicle is in motion or the engine is in operation. The accessory is electrically operable, the speed of the vehicle and of the engine being sensed by electro-magnetic devices in co-operation with magnetized elements whose speed of rotation is proportional to the speed of the vehicle or its engine. Conveniently, the acceleration of the vehicle is determined by differentiating a signal representative of the vehicle's speed. The accessory further includes a visual or aural alarm for warning a driver of the vehicle that an abuse condition has occurred or is about to occur.
