  • Publication number: 20200086632
Abstract: In a method of controlling a property of liquid droplets, the droplets are ejected from a jetting device having an array of ejection units, each of which comprises a cavity connected to a nozzle and an actuator associated with the cavity for exciting a pressure wave in the liquid in the cavity. The method includes monitoring a sub-threshold pressure wave oscillating in the cavity, but having an amplitude not large enough for jetting-out a droplet, deriving an indicator for the viscosity of the liquid from the behavior of the sub-threshold pressure wave, and adjusting a setting of the jetting device on the basis of the indicator. The method also includes keeping the array of ejection units at a reference temperature, establishing a reference profile, and establishing an operation profile of the indicator. The setting is adjusted on the basis of a difference between the operation profile and the reference profile, thus eliminating non-temperature related differences between the ejection units.

  • Patent number: 9079399
Abstract: A printing system for printing a fluid includes a print head for ejecting droplets of the fluid; a first fluid storing section for storing a first amount of the fluid; a second fluid storing section for storing a second amount of the fluid, the second fluid storing section being in fluid communication to the pressure chamber in a power down situation; and a pre-tension device configured for arranging the second amount of the fluid in a pre-tension state in the second fluid storing section, thereby providing a positive fluid pressure on the nozzle in a power down situation, which positive fluid pressure is selected such that a third amount of fluid passes through the nozzle in response to said positive fluid pressure and forms a film on the nozzle plate. The printing system according to the invention supports the recovery of the print head after a power down situation.

  • Publication number: 20090202936
Abstract: A surface temperature of a heat regulated printer element is accurately controlled by providing at least a layer of a rubber material with a phase change material dispersed therein. A method of printing uses an image receiving intermediate carrier including at least a layer of a rubber material with a phase change material dispersed therein.

  • Patent number: 6064411
Abstract: A method of forming a multi-color image, wherein color separation images are generated at least two colors, and color separation images are formed by the use of colored toner powder and are transferred, in successive image-transfer steps under the influence of pressure, to an elastically deformable adhesive intermediate medium provided with a top layer, where the color separation images are collected to form a multi-color image, the method comprising softening the multi-color powder image and transferring it under pressure to a receiving support, wherein between two consecutive image transfer steps the powder image consisting of one or more color separation images is so deformed on the intermediate medium, under the influence of heat and/or pressure, that the powder image becomes adhesive for toner powder, subsequently transferring the color separation image not only to the intermediate medium but also to the powder image already present, wherein the intermediate medium comprises a heat-insulating layer in wh
