  • Patent number: 4704553
Abstract: A controlled electric drive (CED) device comprises a pair of rectangular magnetic poles of different polarity arranged adjacent, parallel, and congruent to each other with a relatively narrow gap therebetween, providing an essentially uniform magnetic field between the pole faces. The device further comprises a driver conductor arranged to move freely between the magnetic pole faces in such a manner that an electric current running through the driver conductor will tend to move the conductor out of the magnetic field at right angles to the conductor and to the direction of the magnetic lines of force defining the magnetic field. The device further comprises a controller conductor wound in a flat, essentially rectangular spiral fixed adjacent to, and insulated from, the driver conductor. The controller conductor is so arranged that its longitudinal direction is parallel to the driver conductor, and has first and second portions, with direct current flowing in opposite directions in each of the portions.

  • Patent number: 4556352
Abstract: Disclosed is a snap lock assembly which may be mounted on a shaft without passing over an end of the shaft. The assembly comprises two segments which are sized and shaped to encircle the shaft and which snap lock with each other. The shaft may be a rod, a bolt, or the like and; the assembly may be a nut, a washer, or the like.

  • Patent number: 4370824
Abstract: An aerial device in the form of a disc which can be "sailed" in the air by throwing it in a manner to impart rotation to the disc. Vanes, holes and/or conduits are provided in the disc to force air from the top side or perimeter or other location to the underside thereof. By such means, increased lift is imparted to the device. Also, air cavities are provided to collect and maintain the air on the underside to provide an air cushion, further enhancing the lift imparted to the device.

  • Patent number: 4274323
Abstract: An assembly which may be mounted on a shaft such as a rod, bolt, or the like. The assembly includes a first member which comprises at least two segments and a retainer or locking member which interlocks with the segments when the segments are placed around the shaft to retain the segments on the shaft. The retainer also comprises at least two segments such that the first member can be used on a shaft on which the ends are non accessible. In the illustrated embodiments, the first member is a nut, and, after positioning on the shaft, the nut can be rotated and tightened in the manner of any conventional nut.
