  • Patent number: 5855460
Abstract: A screw and nut assembly comprises a screw having a hollow cavity extending longitudinally throughout, a nut configured to screw onto the screw, and an extension attached to the nut. The extension traverses the hollow cavity of the screw when the nut is placed on an end of the screw without being screwed on. The extension is displaced from the hollow cavity of the screw as the nut is screwed onto the screw. The status of the screw and nut connection may thus be determined from the screw side of the assembly, without observing the nut, by observing the extent to which the extension has emerged from the hollow cavity in the screw.

  • Patent number: 4472112
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a pressure control arrangement for an air compressor. The pressure control arrangement includes an auxiliary pressure chamber which is vented to the atmosphere by the auxiliary pressure chamber is connected to the compression chamber of the air compressor by a spring biased piston controlled valve which is normally closed. When the air pressure exceeds a predetermined value, the piston controlled valve is opened by the air pressure to vent the compression chamber to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4408967
Abstract: A piston cylinder and head arrangement for compressors including a valve plate disposed between a piston housing and the head. An intake valve, a discharge valve, and an atmospheric vent valve are all operably disposed in the valve plate, and are all arranged relative to each other and relative to an intake chamber, a compression chamber, and cooling chambers so as to necessitate only one sealing gasket for sealing said valves and said chambers from each other during certain operational phases of the compressor. The arrangement further includes a piston operable responsively to discharge pressure in excess of a certain high degree for diverting such pressure output from the pressure discharge valve to the atmospheric vent valve until such pressure drops below the certain high degree.

  • Patent number: 4395442
Abstract: A method of protecting the frictional engaging surfaces of an aluminum alloy piston-cylinder machine, including the steps of: coating the surface of one of the piston-cylinder members with an epoxy-resin in which is mixed a ceramic oxide material, placing the coated member in a drier oven, and heating and curing the epoxy-resin and ceramic oxide coating for at least one hour at a temperature of approximately 220.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4319457
Abstract: In a mixed medium brake system for a motor vehicle, there is provided a hydro-pneumatic brake cylinder device in a common housing having a compact configuration that is realized by designing the hydraulic piston in the form of a cylindrical plunger having a hollow cavity in the end adjacent the pneumatic piston, whereby engagement of the pneumatic piston push rod with the plunger is at a location thereof forward of the end adjacent the pneumatic piston, thus minimizing the distance required between the pneumatic piston and the hydraulic piston formed by the plunger. Such an arrangement also reduces the binding action of the cylindrical plunger in its guide bore for improved operation, while accommodating pivotal motion of said pneumatic piston.

  • Patent number: 4304534
Abstract: A compressor cylinder head cast as a single piece casting to include a cylinder bore portion and a cylinder head. The cylinder head is cast with respective recesses for accommodating an intake valve and a discharge valve, such intake and discharge valves being identical in form and shape and, therefore, being interchangeable so that, during assembly of the cylinder head, no particular attention need be given to which valve is placed in which recess.
