    Abstract: A child-protected thermoplastic container having a generally square shape including a closure having horizontal sealing surfaces complimentary to sealing surfaces on the top of parallel container sides, and including tapered guide surfaces on the parallel sides to guide the closure from back to front for closing while forcing a tight seal on the sealing surfaces. A flared wedge on a flexible projecting nub protrudes from the closure through an aperture in a rib of the container body, preventing backward movement of the closure unless the wedge is depressed. The front of the closure is provided with a lock bar having a handle which snaps closed to effectuate a tight seal on the front, which must be opened before the closure will slide back to open the container.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method are described for injection molding of thermoplastic paint cans substantially similar in size and design to the conventional steel one-gallon paint can. The apparatus comprises a cavity element defining the exterior of the container body and a core mold element including a peripheral lip protruding into the interior of the can body at a point below the upper terminus of the top circumference of the container body, thus providing a peripheral upwardly projecting edge. The cavity element includes a plurality of cam elements which move cooperatively on separation of the core and cavity elements. The cam elements grip the ridge of the container and expand it outwardly sufficiently to permit the core element of the mold to be removed from the container without hindrance from the inwardly protruding lip.

    Abstract: A thermoplastic blow-molded drum employs, in place of the conventional flat circular top, or a slightly spherical or radially rounded top, a top having a cylindrical surface over most of its area. The cylindrical surface is of a relatively wide radius and based on an axis perpendicular to the drum; it permits the trouble-free use of paper labels and the like which will conform to the cylindrical surface, while also strengthening the corners of the drum chime at the ends of the cylindrical surface by permitting the parison to conform to a surface intersection having less area than that of the sharp corners of the prior art, resulting in a greater thickness and more strength.

The body has a corrugated outer circumferential wall, a concentric inner wall spaced from the outer wall, and a corrugated web joining the two walls at one end. An end wall is joined to the inner wall. The other end of the outer wall carries an integral ring. The inside of the outer wall has lengthwise ribs which have internal screw threads. The space between the walls forms an annular pocket for receiving the end portion of a pipe, while the internal threads engage the pipe threads and the ring snugly receives the pipe beyond the threads.
