  • Patent number: 6158515
Abstract: Fluid is lifted from a well with a continuous loop of fibrous material, such as rope. The rope loop is formed around a drive sheave on the surface with a return sheave down inside of the well. The drive sheave has ridges along the side surfaces of a groove. The rope lays in the groove in contact with the ridges. A motor rotates the drive sheave so as to lift the oily rope from the well. Guides and wipers are provided to direct the rope into the drive sheave and to the wipers. The wipers are slotted cards that scrape a quantity of oil from the outside surface of the rope. The oil falls down into a bottom of a housing for collection purposes.

  • Patent number: 4878806
Abstract: A ceiling fan optionally usable in a suspended down rod mode in which the fan blades are spaced downwardly from the ceiling, or in a flush mounted mode in which the blades are relatively close to the ceiling. The fan includes a canopy secured adjacent the ceiling, and an optionally downrod which swivelly supports the fan housing and blades at a position spaced downwardly from the ceiling. The fan further includes a motor housing which has top and bottom housing plates and an annular band located between the housing plates. The top and bottom plates are secured to a soft iron armature which is driven in rotation by a stator carried on a rod extended through the center of the fan housing. The fan blades are connected to the bottom plate of the housing, and housing and blades are driven in rotation with the iron armature.

  • Patent number: 4729725
Abstract: A variable mounting, electrically powered ceiling fan which includes a ceiling-attachable canopy which is adaptable to have the housing of the motor of an electrically powered ceiling fan attached directly thereto and positioned immediately therebelow, and is constructed to alternatively facilitate the suspension therefrom of a down rod which carries the fan motor housing at its lower end. In this latter arrangement, the ceiling fan includes a down rod which is swivelly supported from the lower side of the canopy, and includes a lower end which projects into, and is quick detachably connected to, a canopy sleeve located on the upper side of the motor housing of the ceiling fan. The down rod sleeve is sized to project into the opening of the lower side of the canopy which accommodates the down rod at a time when the down rod is removed from the assembly to facilitate direct attachment of the motor housing to the canopy.
