  • Patent number: 8109489
Abstract: A method for contacting gases and liquid droplets for mass and/or heat transfer and a spray tower are disclosed, in which liquid is injected at a number of levels in counterflow to the gas, the gas being fed through at least two inlet openings in the shell of the spray tower. In this case, in order to reduce the differences in the contact duration, the flow direction of the gas at the inlet openings points into the internal region of the spray tower, which has a diameter of greater than or equal to 12 m, in particular greater than 20 m, such that the flow directions of the at least two gas streams intersect on their extension inside the spray tower, in particular at the center of the spray tower at up to half the spray tower radius downstream of the center of the spray tower.

  • Patent number: 7555899
Abstract: The invention relates to a regulator device (1) for a hydraulic pump which pumps into at least one working pipe (13), and to a valve unit for said pump. The pumping volume of the hydraulic pump (1) is regulated with the aid of a regulator device (15, 19) exposed to a regulating pressure which is regulated by an adjusting valve (26) in conformity to a first and a second pressure. The first pressure passes through a first pressure pipe (38) and acts on a first measuring surface, the second pressure passes through a second pressure pipe (39) and acts on a second pressure surface opposite to the first surface of the adjusting valve (26), the first pressure being higher than the second pressure. Said invention is characterized in that a pressure chamber (45) is arranged between the first and second measuring surfaces, thereby forming a discharge channel towards the second pressure pipe (39).

  • Patent number: 6947523
Abstract: A rotary bulb tube of an x-ray radiator is mounted for rotation in a housing, which is filled with a coolant and is connected to a shaft section, which in turn is connected by a coupling to a second shaft section extending to a motor for rotating the bulb tube. The coupling is designed to isolate the rotary bulb tube electrically from the motor and to isolate the bulb tube from motor vibrations.

  • Patent number: 6851296
Abstract: A measurement apparatus and a method for measuring a seat mat for a vehicle seat which serve to perform a function test or a recording of readings by way of a negative pressure that is generated in the seat mat. The negative pressure is established by way of a pressure difference between the negative pressure and the external atmospheric pressure. The method is thus independent of the external atmospheric pressure. The controller that establishes the pressure difference is embodied either electronically or mechanically.

  • Patent number: 6853306
Abstract: The resistances of resistors arranged in a matrix form in a pressure-sensitive resistor mat are measured with high accuracy and using simple circuitry by the fact that the output of an operational amplifier is connected to each row conductor and each column conductor, which are connected to the resistor. A voltage is selectively applied to the individual resistors by appropriately activating the operational amplifiers. Each operational amplifier associated with the row or column conductors is equipped with a current balancing circuit which detects the output current of the operational amplifier connected to the selected resistor which flows through this resistor. A processor determines the individual resistance values from the currents flowing through the individual resistors and the voltage drops across those resistors.

  • Patent number: 6808200
Abstract: A method for occupant classification in a vehicle is used to extract a plurality of features from a seat profile and to assign a weight estimate to each of these features. The occupant weight and a measure of quality are determined from the different weight estimates. The measure of quality determines whether the occupant weight continues to be used as the occupant classification. The weight estimation for the feature in question is carried out via a stored function. The occupant classification can be used for a restraint system. The ischial tuberosity distance and/or the seat profile size can be used as the features.

  • Patent number: 6725658
Abstract: An adjusting device (1) for adjusting the swash plate (12) of an axial piston engine (1) with a swash-plate construction has an actuating piston (18) which acts on the swash plate (12) of the axial piston engine (1); and a control value (19). The control valve (19) is used to regulate the actuating pressure which is present in an actuating volume (45) and which is acting on the actuating piston (18), in accordance with a control force acting on a valve piston (20) of the control valve (19). The actuating piston (18) is structurally separate from the control valve (19) and the actuating piston (18) is connected to the valve piston (20) of the control valve (19) by a readjusting spring (34) that opposes the control force.

  • Patent number: 6567732
Abstract: A method and a device are for evaluating sensor signals from a seat mat in a vehicle seat, the signals functioning to characterize the sensors in the seat mat as active and inactive. In this manner, a linear evaluation method is performed to make possible a weight classification of passengers situated on the vehicle seat. For this purpose, a seat profile is generated using the active and inactive sensors.

  • Patent number: 6545489
Abstract: A circuit arrangement with low sensitivity to faults and few components has a first resistor connected in parallel to the resistor mat and a second resistor connected in series to the parallel circuit. A controllable voltage regulator, to which a control voltage dependent on the resistance of the resistor mat is supplied, is also connected in parallel to the series circuit.
