  • Patent number: 10421464
Abstract: The invention regards a method, a system and a vehicle for analyzing a rider performance. The vehicle is any vehicle that employs a roll angle change for changing its driving direction. Firstly, physical motion parameters of the vehicle in motion are sensed and the measured data is supplied to computing unit. In the computing unit, segments in a time series of measured data are determined by processing the measured data in the computing unit. Each segment corresponds to a rider control behavior and the plurality of such consecutive rider control behavior build a riding maneuver. In the computing unit, the measured data within one segment for at least one of the segments is analyzed by computing at least one characteristic value for the respective segment and/or the sequence of determined segments is analyzed. Finally, an analysis result indicating the rider performance or rider skills is output.

  • Patent number: 9159023
Abstract: Provided is a system for predicting a driver's intention to change lanes at a high accuracy involving a minimum amount of time delay. A driver's intention to change lanes is predicted by a prediction unit (9) by comparing motivators and inhibitors (7, 8) which may be determined from the speed of the traffic in particular the vehicle traveling ahead of the vehicle and the traffic in the adjacent lanes in relation to the traveling speed of the ego vehicle by using an ego vehicle sensor (1) and an environmental sensor (3, 4, 5) that may comprise a radio wave, optical or acoustic radar. The criteria for the motivators and inhibitors may be empirically or statistically determined, preferably by conducting a large number of tests on roads. As they can be determined before the vehicle operator starts a lane changing maneuver, the prediction made by the prediction unit may be used on a real time basis in a warning system or steering/acceleration assist system.

  • Patent number: 8155798
Abstract: A device and method for determining a roll angle of a motorcycle are disclosed. The method includes the step of acquiring a rolling rate ({dot over (?)}M) of the motorcycle. A first roll angle variable (?1) is determined from the rolling rate ({dot over (?)}M). At least one vehicle movement dynamics characteristic variable is determined from a velocity (v), a rotational speed ({dot over (?)}M), and/or an acceleration ({umlaut over (z)}M, ÿM) of the motorcycle. A second roll angle variable (?2) is determined from one or more vehicle movement dynamics characteristic variables. The roll angle (?E) is calculated on the basis of the roll angle variables (?1, ?2).

  • Patent number: 8126640
Abstract: A method for travel course prediction in a motor vehicle having a position finding system for objects situated ahead of the vehicle is provided. In accordance with the method, a function describing the shape of the roadside is calculated on the basis of measured distance data and angle data for stationary roadside targets, wherein multiple stationary targets are identified and tracked. The path of the road is estimated for various subsets of the set of tracked stationary targets, under the assumption that these stationary targets are situated along the roadside, and roadside targets are differentiated from interfering objects on the basis of the plausibility of the resulting possible shapes of the roadside, the most probable shape of the roadside being determined on the basis of the roadside targets.
