  • Publication number: 20190384957
Abstract: A method for capturing digital images of friction ridge prints from the fingers/palms of a subject that have acceptable quality. The method includes a livescan device; a means of obtaining digital images of inked prints; and a software program that captures and stores print images and evaluates their quality. Fingerprint/palmprint images to be submitted to databases must be of suitable quality for automated fingerprint/palmprint identification software. There are sometimes problems capturing prints of suitable quality when using livescan devices. If a livescan image quality is below a threshold, the program prompts the user to produce an inked version of the same finger/palm on a substrate and then scan or digitally photograph the inked print impression. The program evaluates the quality of the digital inked image. If the quality exceeds the threshold the image is selected for submission to the database.

  • Publication number: 20110295879
Abstract: Systems and methods for document management are presented. A virtual document, irrespective of a number of pages in the virtual document, may be transferred to a device via a network within a time period similar to or approximately equal to a time period to transfer a single page document. The systems, database structures, and methods described herein can allow for the management of a document similar to that of a file system, by allowing each individual page of a multi-page document to be stored and updated individually. In some embodiments, multi-page image documents may be stored at a page level, that is, each page of a multi-page image document may be individually stored and individually accessed, allowing for a random access of any page within a multi-page image document without a need to access any other pages of the multi-page image document.

  • Publication number: 20070226402
Abstract: Service life of a semiconductor flush memory is extended by averaging the number of times of rewrite operation and non-uniformity of time associated with a synchronization processing is eliminated. The invention provides a mapping rule such that when a space bitmap recorded to a semiconductor flush memory spreads over three erase blocks in the semiconductor flush memory using a UDF file system as a file system, a Root directory is recorded to partial DSA1 corresponding to partial SBM1, a first file directory group is recorded to only partial DSA1 and partial DSA2 corresponding to partial SBM1 and partial SBM2, and a second file directory group is recorded to only partial DSA1 and partial DSA3 corresponding to partial SBM1 and partial SBM3.

  • Patent number: 6061086
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the automated inspection of objects for the presence of visual anomalies. The apparatus includes a first wide angle camera for acquiring an image of the object, a processor for detecting targets and generating target location from the image of the object, a two axis post-objective scanner associated with a high resolution camera for directing target image to the high resolution camera. The scanner provides a mechanism for saccadic emulation in combination with a high resolution video camera, which can be synchronized to the frame rate of the video camera for rapid high resolution examination of an object.

  • Patent number: 5172329
Abstract: A stand alone protective apparatus and method is provided for electrical power devices. Power devices can be damaged due to conditions for example of over current, magnetizing in rush-current, over exitation voltage, saturation, ground fault or internal faults. To protect power devices from the noted conditions, electrical current of the power device is sensed and sampled. Digital processing is used for analyzing the digitally coded sample current and based on one of the conditions that can cause damage, a signal is provided for selectively actuating, by tripping an electric/electronic circuit breaker.
