  • Patent number: 4613198
Abstract: An electrical connector backshell which is divided longitudinally into a pair of separable parts. The longitudinal edges of the two parts embody interlocking means allowing longitudinal sliding engagement of the parts, but preventing lateral separation of the parts even if one or both of the parts is flexed. The backshell housing may be formed from sheet metal. The two parts of the housing may be assembled over a cable after the conductors thereof have been connected to the contacts in a connector shell.

  • Patent number: 4547035
Abstract: An electrical connector endbell in which the endbell housing is slotted so that the cable of the connector may be pushed laterally into the interior of the housing through the slot after the cable has been connected to the contacts in the connector shell. A cover is slidably removable on the endbell housing to close the slot. Screw threads are formed in the interior of the cover and the forward end of the housing for threading the endbell onto the rear of the connector shell.

  • Patent number: 4477140
Abstract: A self-locking connector is disclosed in which locking of the mating halves of the connector is achieved near complete mating of the connector. The locking mechanism includes a resilient locking ring mounted behind the threads on the coupling nut of the plug connector member. The locking ring is formed with inwardly extending teeth which are engageable with recesses formed in the outer surface of the receptacle connector shell in front of the screw threads thereon.

  • Patent number: 4216411
Abstract: A wet-niche type lamp for providing underwater illumination in a swimming pool or the like includes an over-temperature protection circuit which interrupts the supply of electrical energy to the lamp when the level of the cooling water surrounding the lamp drops below a predetermined level. The circuit includes thermistor mounted in an heat exchange relationship with the surrounding water so that heat energy generated in the thermistor, as a consequence of the current flow through it, is normally transferred to the surrounding water. Should the level of the surrounding water drop below that of the thermistor, the thermistor heat energy quickly evaporates any remaining water film on the exterior surface of the thermistor to allow its temperature to rise. The control circuit, in response to the temperature increase, interrupts the flow of electrical energy to the lamp to prevent over-temperature operation.
