    Abstract: A system for deploying an anvil in a subject comprises a tube having a first open end, a second open end and a lumen that extends between the respective first and second ends. The system further comprises an anvil configured to selectively move between a compressed and an expanded position. In one aspect, in the expanded position, at least a portion of the anvil is configured to form staples fired by the surgical stapling device after the anvil is expelled from the second open end of the tube.
