  • Patent number: 5050670
Abstract: A multiple tube heat exchanger formed from a number of elbow members which when combined form a "U" shaped jacket, an elongate tubular section connected to the ends of the U-shaped jacket, a number of heat conductive U-shaped tubular members mounted in the jacket, a tube sheet mounted on the ends of said tubular members and tubular sections and a number of baffles for supporting the tubular members in a spaced relation from said tubular sections.

  • Patent number: 4913397
Abstract: A diaphragm control valve including a casing having an opening in one side. A cylindrical pipe mounted in a coaxial relation to the casing, and having a valve seat at one end. A flexible diaphragm is symmetrically mounted in the casing in a spaced relation to the valve seat and has a diameter larger than the diameter of the valve seat. A cover is provided on one end of the casing to form a pressure chamber on one side of the diaphragm. Air is admitted under pressure into the chamber to move the diaphragm toward the valve seat to control the flow of fluid through the casing. A seal is provided between the cover and casing to seat the diaphragm into the casing.

  • Patent number: 4884629
Abstract: A high pressure, multi-tube and sheet-type heat exchanger including a U-shaped jacket formed from a pair of elongate tubular sections, a fluid medium inlet disposed adjacent one end of one of the tubular sections and a fluid medium outlet disposed adjacent one end of the other tubular section, and a pair of U-shaped semicircular half sections connecting the other ends of the tubular sections, a plurality of one-piece U-shaped tubes of heat conductive material arranged in parallel-spaced relation within the jacket through which the high pressure product flows and a tube sheet mounted on the end of each tubular section, each tube sheet being provided with a plurality of openings corresponding to the number of tubes in the jacket, the tube ends being aligned in the openings in the tube sheets and sealingly affixed thereto either by welding or by press fitting a tubular insert into the open end of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 4851250
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sterilization of liquid food products utilizing a generally cylindrical pressure vessel. The liquid product to be treated is introduced at the top of the vessel in such a manner as to form an insulating barrier of liquid product between the heated interior and any interior surfaces of vessel which the product comes in contact with including the vessel side walls. Steam is introduced through a centrally located diffuser intermediate the top and bottom of the vessel for heating the liquid to a sterilization temperature. A gas removal pipe is provided for removing air and gases released from the liquid product and remaining after condensation of the steam from the lower portion of the vessel. The insulating barrier of liquid product may be formed by the use of a plurality of spray nozzles, by a combination of spray and direct film formation, or by direct film formation alone.

  • Patent number: 4850270
Abstract: A liquid-solid continuous aseptic processing system including a pipe circuit having a constant diameter, a process liquid storage tank connected to one end of said pipe circuit, a process liquid pump for maintaining the process liquid at constant pressure, a projectile feed tube connected to the pipe circuit for feeding projectiles into said pipe circuit at spaced intervals to form process units, a product solid load assembly for introducing predetermined amounts of said particulate in each of the process units, a number of heat exchange units in the pipe circuit for processing the liquid-solid process units, and a projectile separation assembly for discharging process units from the circuit and returning the projectiles to the projectile feed tube.

  • Patent number: 4817994
Abstract: An aseptic pipe joint for food processing pipe fittings of the type including a pair of frustoconical ferrules having radially extending surfaces, a "C" shaped metallic ring positioned between the surfaces in abutting relation therewith, a resilient O-ring filling the "C" shaped ring to form an aseptic seal, a resilient seal ring positioned between the ferrule surfaces and spaced radially outwardly from the "C" shaped ring forming a hermetic zone between the seals and a passage in one of the ferrules connected to the hermetic zone for testing the aseptic seal.

  • Patent number: 4787304
Abstract: An infusion heating apparatus, including a hollow sealed vessel having a porous steam dispensing cylinder located along the central axis of the vessel, a number of spray nozzles mounted in a circle at the top of the vessel and arranged to introduce a liquid form material to be treated in a continuous shower of droplets directed radially and downwardly between the interior walls of the vessel and the steam dispensing cylinder, a frusto-conical cylindrical member mounted in the housing below the spray nozzles to separate the shower of droplets from the dispensing cylinder, an air and gas discharge tube passing axially through the dispensing cylinder and terminating at the bottom of the vessel and a cooling jacket surrounding the outside surface of the vessel.
