The envelope contains a vent to permit ingress and egress of air from the pillow or cushion. The envelope also includes a sealable opening to permit insertion and removal of the pillow or cushion. A facing layer of air permeable material extends over the resting surface and is secured to the envelope at spaced apart locations to allow air flow and a degree of relative movement between the facing layer and envelope.
