  • Publication number: 20220089787
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a proteoglycan-containing composition including: a freezing step for freezing a starting material, where raw cartilage derived from fish is used as the starting material; and a freeze-drying step for freeze-drying frozen articles obtained in the freezing step. The method may also include an extraction step for furthermore adding an aqueous solvent to the resultant freeze-dried articles to carry out extraction. Additionally, a method for manufacturing a proteoglycan-containing composition including a mincing step for forming a starting material into surimi, where raw cartilage derived from fish is used as the starting material; and an extraction step for adding an aqueous solvent to the surimi obtained in the mincing step to carry out extraction.

  • Patent number: 6126713
Abstract: An additive for use in producing spheroidal graphite cast iron of the present invention contains a fine particle of magnesium oxide having a purity of 90 weight % or more and at least one selected from the group consisting of a graphite-spheroidizing material, an inoculant and a graphite-spheroidizing inoculant. The fine particle of highly pure magnesium oxide increases the number of nuclei in a melt, and as a result thereof, increases the graphite spheroid count of a spheroidal graphite cast iron being produced. Another additive for use in producing spheroidal graphite cast iron of the present invention contains at least one selected from the group consisting of a graphite-spheroidizing material, an inoculant and a graphite-spheroidizing inoculant, and an oxide of a metal which has, at a temperature of a melt at a time when subjected to a graphite-spheroidizing treatment, an affinity for oxygen smaller than that of a graphite-spheroidizing element being used in the graphite-spheroidizing treatment.

  • Patent number: 4985999
Abstract: A hand-held clipper for removing entangled fibers from the surface of fabrics has a grip handle with a cutting head. The cutting head comprises a perforated shear foil and cutter blades rotating in shearing engagement with the interior face of the shear foil. The shear foil is curved into a generally semi-cylindrical configuration having a longitudinal axis and define first and second side faces on the opposite sides of a curved top portion. The cutter blade has a cutting edge extending along the longitudinal axis of the shear foil and is driven to rotate in one direction about a rotations axis, which is common to the longitudinal axis of the shear foil, so as to move along the curved shear foil continuously from the first side face toward the second side faces.

  • Patent number: 4953574
Abstract: A hair curler has a barrel with an exposed heating element and a clamping member which clamps hair to the heating element exposed on the barrel for providing tight curls. The heating element is in the form of a plurality of resistor segments extending lengthwise of the barrel and being spaced circumferentially around the barrel with the longitudinal ends thereof being connected. The resistor segments, which are mounted at one circumferential portion of the barrel in closely adjacent relation to the clamping member, are arranged to give off a greater amount of heat than the remaining resistor segments mounted at the other circumferential portion of the barrel located away from the clamping member.

  • Patent number: 4845847
Abstract: An electric shaver has a shaving head and a trimmer handle mounting at its top a trimmer block. The trimmer handle is in the form of a flat plate slidably attached to a flat surface on the outer wall of a shaver housing for vertical movement between an inoperative position and an operative position. Formed in the inner surface of the flat plate trimmer handle is a shallow recess within which is located a trimmer drive interconnecting the trimmer block and a main drive element for the shaving head in order to drive the trimmer block from the same source as the shaving head. The trimmer block includes a stationary blade and a movable blade which define therebetween a cutting plane in parallel relation to the plane of the trimmer handle. This arrangement is to reduce the dimension of the trimmer block and the thickness of the trimmer handle.

  • Patent number: 4687906
Abstract: A portable electric hair dryer includes an electric heater and blower forming a load circuit energized from a pair of power feeder lines connected to a source of AC power. A zero phase-sequence current transformer is electrically coupled to the power feed lines between the connection thereof to the power source and the load circuit to serve as a current leakage detector. An electricaly conductive heater enclosure disposed within the housing of the hair dryer receives the heater and is electrically isolated from the power feed line serving as the hot line. The heater enclosure is electrically connected to the power feeder line serving as the neutral line by a ground wire extending between the heater enclosure and the point at which the zero phase-sequencing transformer is coupled to the power feeder lines to define a leakage current path between the hot line and the heater enclosure should the hair dryer be dropped in water.

  • Patent number: 4370544
Abstract: Flat and compact hair dryer of a type having a housing and an electric cord which can be wound in an outer peripheral groove of the housing. The cord is connected to a switch by means of a bushing rotatably pivoted within the housing so that the inner end of the bushing prevents the switch from moving to its ON-position from an OFF-position when the cord is wound around the housing. When the switch is in the ON-position, the bushing is prevented from rotating to a retracted position, thereby providing an indication that the switch is on.

  • Patent number: 4233531
Abstract: A device for inserting a compact motor into a limited fitting space particularly within a small rotary instrument and rotating the motor body with respect to an axis aligned with the rotary shaft of said instrument, whereby the fitting of the motor to the instrument and the electric connection for feeding power to the motor can be achieved simultaneously, comprising means for fixing the motor in the axial direction after engaged by the axial rotation of the motor body, means for preventing the axial rotation of the motor after engaged simultaneously with said engagement of the fixing means and power feeding means electrically connected after engaged simultaneously with said engagement of the fixing and preventing means, wherein the engaging elements of the respective means are provided in the respective positions of the motor and instrument which will not oppose before the axial rotation of the motor but will oppose after the rotation.
