  • Patent number: 6530149
Abstract: A method of producing a hollow piston for a compressor, the piston including a head portion which is slidably fitted in a cylinder bore of the compressor, and an engaging portion which engages a reciprocating drive device of the compressor for reciprocating the piston, at least the head portion of the piston being hollow, the method comprising a step of preparing at least one piston blank by forging, which piston blank includes an engaging-portion-forming section which provides the engaging portion of the piston, and a head-portion-forming section which provides at least a part of the head portion of the piston, the at least one piston blank being prepared by a two-axes forging process which uses a forging die assembly including a set of two first dies which are movable relative to each other along a first axis which is one of two mutually perpendicular axes, and at least one second die which is. movable along a second axis which is the other of the two mutually perpendicular axes.

  • Patent number: 6386090
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to propose a compressor in which rotation of a piston is prevented without affecting a big unbalanced load to the piston and the manufacture of the piston is simplified. The compressor comprises a housing having a cylinder bore therein, a drive shaft, a swash plate as a cam plate and a piston including a head portion and a neck portion. The housing and the piston are made of metal such as aluminium or an aluminium alloy. A rotation preventing member formed separately from the piston is mounted on the neck portion of the piston. The rotation preventing member is composed of a pair of rotation preventing portions, an abutting portion and a pair of caulking portions to mount to the neck portion. Those are made of metallic material such as iron series and formed in one body. The rotation preventing portion prevents the piston from rotating, cooperating with the contacting portion formed on the inner wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4746275
Abstract: A multi-piston swash plate type compressor with an internal lubricating arrangement for an air conditioning system used in a vehicle such as an automobile comprises a cylinder block body having a swash plate chamber formed therein for receiving a swash plate, and cylinder bores formed therein for receiving pistons. The compressor has a suction chamber which is fed with a refrigerant including a lubrication oil from an evaporator of the air conditioning system, and a discharge chamber which feeds the compressed refrigerant to a condenser of the air conditioning system. The suction and discharge chambers are communicated with each of the cylinder bores through valves. Passages are formed in the cylinder block body for feeding the refrigerant from the swash plate member to the suction chamber in such a manner that the refrigerant flow is guided to positively lubricate movable parts included in the cylinder block body as a component element of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4610604
Abstract: A multi-cylinder swash-plate-type compressor having a combined cylinder block closed on both axial ends by front and rear housing and provided therein with a reciprocative piston mechanism, for sucking, compressing, and discharging a refrigerant gas, and a connecting flange, from which the refrigerant gas after compression is sent out toward a cooling circuit. The connecting flange defines a muffling chamber in cooperation with a circumferential section of the combined cylinder block for suppressing the pulsation in discharge pressure of the refrigerant gas. The compressor further has a pair of mutually opposed gas outlets arranged adjacent to and downstream of the muffling chamber so that two streams of the refrigerant gas after compression collide, weakening the pulsation in the discharge pressure of the refrigerant gas.

  • Patent number: 4534710
Abstract: A multi-cylinder swash-plate-type compressor having a combined cylinder block closed on both axial ends by front and rear housings and provided therein with a reciprocative piston mechanism for sucking, compressing, and discharging a fluid, such as a refrigerant gas. The combined cylinder block is provided with a mounting bracket on the outer circumference thereof and suction and discharge ports formed in the outer circumference at positions adjacent to the mounting bracket. The compressor further has damping chambers arranged adjacent to the suction and discharge ports for suppressing pulsation in suction and discharge pressures of the refrigerant gas during the operation of the compressor. The damping chambers have considerable volumes and cross-sectional area.

  • Patent number: 4432702
Abstract: A multi-piston swash plate type compressor in which there is provided an improved internal arrangement wherein the suction passageway in which a refrigerant gas is introduced from the exterior of the compressor is communicated with the suction chambers and the swash plate chamber by means of ports and through-holes whose locations are selected so as to prevent a liquid refrigerant from flowing into the suction chamber during stoppage of the compressor.
