  • Patent number: 7995249
Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the invention reads an original by mechanically moving an axial light source in a subscanning direction perpendicular to the axis. The image forming apparatus includes: a sensor whose resolution in a main scanning direction parallel to the axis of the axial light source is higher than a designated resolution; a controller that controls the driving speed of the axial light source so that the resolution in the subscanning direction is higher than the designated resolution; an original-image-data generating unit that generates original image data with a resolution higher than the designated resolution in response to the output from the sensor; and an image reducing unit that generates reduced pixels fewer than a specified number of pixels in the original image data to generate a reduced image with a resolution equal to the designated resolution.

  • Patent number: 7777918
Abstract: An image forming apparatus applies a shading correction to an image read from a white reference board 18, and determines presence or absence of stripe-like noise in the image read therefrom after applying the shading correction. • Patent number: 6377361
Abstract: In an image processing device, image data is buffered by an image buffer section to output an interested pixel value and surrounding pixel values of a pixel surrounding an interested pixel. A shift condition determination section determines on the basis of the interested pixel value and the surrounding pixel values whether or not the interested pixel value should be shifted, and outputs a shift determination result. A pixel shifting amount computing section computes the pixel shifting amount of the interested pixel, and the shifted pixel position calculation section outputs a shift pixel position signal on the basis of setting parameters Tx and Ty, and clock signals XCLOCK and YCLOCK. A pixel value shifting section outputs the interested pixel value after the shifting on the basis of the interested pixel value, a shift determination result, the pixel shifting amount, and the shift pixel position signal.

  • Patent number: 6154569
Abstract: A coding and/or decoding system for an image including bit-sops of different levels, is provided in an image recoding system which recodes bit-map data including small-level bit-map data and multilevel bit-map data in an image memory and which read the bit-map data out of the image memory to recode an image. In this coding and/or decoding system, after small-level bit-map data and multilevel bit-map data are divided into blocks, each of which is composed of a plurality of picture elements, the divided small-level bit-map data and the divided multilevel bit-map data are inputted to small-level bit-map data coding section and multilevel bit-map data coding section, respectively. The small-level bit-map data are transformed into codes representative of the number of black or white and half-tone picture elements in the block, and the multilevel bit-map data are transformed into codes representative of the average value or the total in the block.

  • Patent number: 6134022
Abstract: An image recording system for deriving a recorded image from an image signal by producing a positional-deviation amount indicative signal representative of a positional deviation in a sub-scanning direction of a scanning line forming a recorded image. The system corrects the positional deviation of the scanning line on the basis of the positional-deviation amount indicative signal. The system also corrects a density deviation of a recorded image due to the correction of the positional deviation on the basis of a pixel pattern of the image signal. A method is also provided for detecting a relative positional deviation between images of different colors in a color image recording system.
