  • Publication number: 20130141351
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a portable electronic device includes a housing with a built-in processor, a touchscreen display arranged on a surface of the housing, a temperature sensor configured to detect a temperature within the housing, a brightness adjustment module, and a brightness control module. The brightness adjustment module adjusts a brightness of the touchscreen display so as to set the touchscreen display to a brightness value specified by user operation. If the detected temperature is greater than or equal to a first threshold value, the brightness control module reduces an upper limit value of a brightness range applicable to the touchscreen display.

  • Patent number: 7155251
Abstract: A plurality of amplifiers corresponding to a plurality of types of transmitting signals are provided to amplify the transmitting signals to a power level at which they can be transmitted by radio. The amplifiers are driven by both power and a bias. The bias is supplied to one of the amplifiers that amplifies a to-be-transmitted transmitting signal.

  • Patent number: 6832097
Abstract: When an antenna switching unit selects a first antenna and a reference gain does not exceed a first limit value, a gain of a variable amplifier is set to the reference gain. When the antenna switching unit selects the first antenna and the reference gain exceeds the first limit value, the gain of the variable amplifier is set to the first limit value. When the antenna switching unit selects a second antenna and the reference gain does not exceed a second limit value, the gain of the variable amplifier is set to the reference gain. When the antenna switching unit selects the second antenna and the reference gain exceeds the second limit value, the gain of the variable amplifier is set to the second limit value.

  • Patent number: 6823179
Abstract: A plurality of detectors each output a detection signal corresponding to an output power of a corresponding one of a plurality of transmitting units. The detection signal passes through a corresponding one of a plurality of rectifiers each corresponding to the associated detector and is inputted to an input terminal of a smoothing device to allow the detection signal to be smoothed.

  • Publication number: 20030199258
Abstract: A gain control part controls a gain varying part such that the gain of a received signal corresponds to the input level of the received signal in a first control mode and controls the gain varying part so as to fix the gain of the received signal in a second control mode. A setting part sets the gain control part in the first control mode in a communication state and sets the gain control part in the second control mode in a standby mode.

  • Publication number: 20030022687
Abstract: A power amplifier amplifies the power of a transmission signal and outputs the amplified signal to an antenna. A power detector detects the power of the amplified signal. A first comparator compares the detected power with a first reference signal. A power adjuster adjusts the power of the transmission signal to a desired power value on the basis of the comparison result of the first comparator. A second comparator compares the detected power with a second reference signal. A controller controls the supply of power to the power amplifier or the power adjuster on the basis of the comparison result of the second comparator.

  • Patent number: 5095541
Abstract: A portable telephone apparatus which is capable of being selectively connected to an adaptor unit for transmitting a radio frequency (RF) signal at a certain power level in response to a level control signal. The telephone apparatus includes an amplifier for amplifying the RF signal by a predetermined amplification factor and an antenna for radiating the amplified RF signal. An operator actuatable switch is coupled to the output of the amplifier and is selectively coupled to the antenna and the adaptor unit. A control device is coupled to the amplifier and the operator actuatable switch and is responsive to the level control signal for controlling the amplifier so that the amplification factor of the amplifier is fixed to a predetermined level when the operator actuatable switch is in a first state and to a variable level when the actuatable switch is in a second state.
