  • Patent number: 7054649
Abstract: A mobile terminal for automatically decompressing a prescribed application program based on the location of the mobile terminal. A table is created to indicate relationships between application programs and their respective corresponding locations. The mobile terminal constantly acquires information of its own location. Based on the information of the table and the location of the mobile terminal, the corresponding application program is decompressed and ready to be used by the user.

  • Publication number: 20050052558
Abstract: A disclosed information processing apparatus comprises a camera which outputs picture information of an object, a display, and an input unit. In one example, the input unit allows a user to select one mode among an ordinary image-taking mode and a character recognition mode. The camera may be positioned to make a displayed image of the object substantially consistent with a view of the object by a user. In another example, the input unit enables selection of an information type. The CPU extracts a character string corresponding to the selected information type. Also, identification information included in a recognized character string may be transmitted via a network when an user requests for information related to the recognized character.

  • Publication number: 20050007444
Abstract: An information processing apparatus comprises a camera that outputs picture information, a memory which stores concise information related to at least one string of one or more characters and a data communication interface for communication via a network. The information processing apparatus includes a CPU which recognizes a string of one or more characters included in picture information output by the camera and displays a result of recognition and the concise information related to the recognized string of one or more characters in response to a character recognition request by a user. The CPU also controls the data communication interface to communicate via a network and displays information received by the data communication interface, when the user requests detailed information related to the recognized string of one or more characters.

  • Publication number: 20050007455
Abstract: An information processing apparatus that comprises a camera that outputs picture information, a selector which selects one mode of the camera from a plurality of modes including an ordinary image-taking mode to take a picture as an ordinary camera function and a recognition mode to recognize a character included in a picture information output by the camera, and a speaker that outputs a notification sound. The information processing apparatus includes a CPU that executes control so that ,when a shutter button is operated by a user to operate the camera, the speaker outputs the notification sound at a first output level if the ordinary image-taking mode is selected, and the speaker does not output the notification sound or outputs the notification sound at a second output level lower than the first output level if the recognition mode is selected.

  • Patent number: 5617518
Abstract: A system having at least one information processing apparatus such as a word processor and a printing apparatus as a print server for printing print data which is given from the information processing apparatus using print programs. When the print data which the information processing apparatus itself has is printed by the printing apparatus, the information processing apparatus transfers a print program suitable to print the print data to the printing apparatus, so that the printing apparatus prints the print data by using the print program transferred. In the case where a plurality of data are stored in a memory apparatus in the print server, the data is outputted to the printing apparatus in accordance with a predetermined order.

  • Patent number: 5493420
Abstract: When dot density conversion processing of page data is effected by managing the position, size and data kind of each area for the page data including the portions which are formed as the data of different areas for at least two kinds of data of a plurality of data kinds each having at least one kind such as text data, graphic data, image data, and so forth, dot conversion means disposed for each area in such a manner as to correspond to each data kind is selected and conversion is made so that the result of conversion is drawn at a predetermined output position of each area.

  • Patent number: 5483632
Abstract: A method of help-information control for displaying help information on a display unit of an information processing system executing a plurality of application programs. A status management table for storing the executing status of application programs is provided as common to these programs. During execution of a given application program, the contents of the status information table are updated successively in accordance with the executing status. Whenever an operator makes a help request, the contents of the status management table in effect at that point in time are referenced. The table is searched for the help information corresponding to the request. When found and retrieved, the information is displayed. The search is performed using a program identifier, a message identifier, and a help message searching table that includes the position information containing the corresponding help data.

  • Patent number: 5432899
Abstract: A method for managing resources and an information processing system having three or more information processing units, with one unit functioning as a server and the other two or more units functioning as clients. A client unit can send a first resource, such as a document file, to the server unit for processing, such as printing the first resource. A second resource, such as character fonts, is generally required for processing the first resource if the server does not hold the second resource information. Together with the first resource, the client unit sends address information about the location of the second resource to the server unit. If the private character code is included in the character string, the server reads the private character font corresponding to the client which created the document file. Unfavorable change of a private character sent from a client to the server each time a new client is added to the system is avoided. Consequently, the document file may be processed, e.g.
