Abstract: An electrode structure includes: a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged separately from each other; and a plurality of dielectric layers laminated in a first direction with respect to the plurality of pixel electrodes, in which the plurality of dielectric layers includes: a first dielectric layer that spreads over the plurality of pixel electrodes in a direction intersecting with the first direction; and a second dielectric layer that includes dielectric material having a refractive index higher than that of the first dielectric layer, sandwiches the first dielectric layer together with the plurality of pixel electrodes, and has a slit at a position overlapping space between pixel electrodes adjacent when viewed from the first direction.

Abstract: A database processing apparatus includes a user connection information recording unit for storing connection requests from users in response to database connection processing requests by at least one user requiring for database processing, and database resource allocation unit for making a user occupy a database resource of a database system, in response to a transaction execution request from the user, with a minimum transaction unit ensured with an equivalency to a database processing, and execute a transaction stored in the database resource, thereby carrying out utilization of the system by a number of users.

Abstract: A data medium handling apparatus and a data medium handling method suitable for use for handling of documents, for example, in a financial organ. The data medium handling apparatus (30) for recognizing, based on an image (19) read from a data medium on which information is described in an arbitrary format, the information, is constructed such that it comprises means (2) for extracting characteristics unique to the data medium including the format from the read image data (19) and specifying, from the characteristics, a position at which information to be recognized is present, and image recognition means (3) for recognizing the image (19) at the position specified by the is preceding means (2) to discriminate the information, so that the data medium handling apparatus (30) can handle documents having various formats such as private slips.

Abstract: Characters of data on a document are recognized by automatically determining the definitions of characters of the data from the arrangement of character strings of the data. Character strings on the document are extracted by reading the document, and headers and data on the document are distinguished from each other by determining the positional relationship between the character strings. Character attributes of the data are determined by recognizing characters of the character strings of the headers using a header recognition dictionary. Characters of the character strings of the data are recognized according to the determined character attributes of the data. Since character attributes of the data are determined from recognized characters of the headers after the headers and the data are distinguished from each other from the layout on the document, it is possible to enter automatically the character attributes of the data.

Abstract: A character recognition apparatus, in which a type of each of accounts, a type of each of marks, and characteristic data indicating a string of characters recognized when any of the marks is written in each account are previously registered for each group of the types of accounts in correlation to each other in an account-type database; a mark is estimated according to a result of verification between the account-type database and a result of ordinary character recognition according to a character recognizing program; and a type of account having the estimated mark is determined as a selected account name according to a result of recognizing characters in accounts other than the account having the mark.

Abstract: In a distributed application program system which includes a data transmission line, a plurality of server systems connected to the data transmission line and each including at least one application program for executing data processing by running the program, and a client system connected to the data transmission line and including at least one application program for executing data processing by running the application program, a method of controlling the distributed application program system is performed. The method includes the steps of preparing a library for storing system specifications of the individual systems in association with one of the plural server systems which is to serve as a master server system, and deciding whether or not a table provided in association with the client system already contains system specifications of the server system to which data processing is to be entrusted.
