  • Publication number: 20050160530
Abstract: An adjustable bed includes a platform having a flexible surface, a flex mechanism adapted to flex the platform to form a flexion position that includes at least one of a sitting-up position and a knee break, and a tilt mechanism adapted to tilt the platform surface laterally, the flex and tilt mechanisms both being operable with the other mechanism in an operational state. Furthermore, the adjustable bed includes a side member disposed on a side of the platform, and a side-member lift mechanism adapted to raise the side member relative to the platform surface, the tilt mechanism tilting the platform surface toward the side member raised by the side-member lift mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20040103475
Abstract: To provide an adjustable bed that assists a user to turn comfortably in his or her sleep without mental stress. Once an automatic mode starts, measurement on the depth of sleep of the user lying on the bed is launched. The depth of sleep is measured by detecting biological information such as brain waves, heart rate, and respiratory rate of the user using electrode sensors or the like, and analyzing the biological information according to a polysomnography method or the like. If the depth of sleep is 0, i.e., the user is in REM sleep, and if one hour or more has passed since the measurement is launched or since an immediately preceding turn operation, a turn operation is performed to turn the user.

  • Patent number: 6173801
Abstract: A manually operated travelling vehicle with an auxiliary power device, which can detect a rotating torque applied to a rotating crank shaft (40) in non-contact manner. Supported on a body (15) is a manually operated prime mover wheel (5). A rotating coil (201) is provided coaxially on the prime mover wheel (5). A variable impedance device (202) is electrically connected to the rotating coil (201) such that impedance changes depending upon a load applied to the prime mover wheel (5). A stationary coil (101) is fixed to the body (15) to be coaxial with and spaced from the rotating coil (201) with a predetermined interval therebetween and is electromagnetically connected to the rotating coil (201). A detection circuit (109) is connected to the stationary coil (101) to detect a change in current or voltage applied to the stationary coil (101) from the rotating coil (201) in accordance with an impedance change in the variable impedance device (202).

  • Patent number: 4674236
Abstract: A polishing machine has an upper polishing plate and a lower polishing plate provided below the upper polishing plate. The upper polishing plate has slurry passages. Plugs for supplying slurry are detachably quick coupled to the slurry passages. A piece of polishing pad is bonded to the lower surface of the upper polishing plate. After a spent polishing pad has been removed and a fresh polishing pad has been attached to the lower surface of the upper polishing plate, a hole-cutter is downwardly inserted in each slurry passage until it pierces the fresh polishing pad, thus cutting a hole in the polishing pad.

  • Patent number: 4661666
Abstract: An inventive vacuum interrupter exhibits a high interruption performance. The interrupter includes a metal end plate constituting part of its vacuum envelope, and a coil disposed outside the vacuum envelope and near the metal end plate and generating an axial magnetic field parallel to a path of an arc in an arcing gap between a pair of separable contact within the vacuum envelope. The contact near the coil is made of a material superior in interruption performance to the end plate and is mounted with a clearance onto the end plate. The clearance is at least 2 mm and at most 30% of the diameter of the coil-side contact.

  • Patent number: 4593495
Abstract: A polishing machine for polishing the surfaces of the workpieces to be processed has upper and lower surface plates which are rotated relative to each other. A plurality of carriers are placed between the upper and lower surface plates and each of the carriers has a plurality of bores into which the workpieces are fitted. These carriers are engaged with both the sun gear and the internal ring gear within the same plane. In account of the sun gear and the internal ring gear, the carriers are rotated round the sun gear, turning round their own axes. The internal ring gear can be lifted up and down by a lift mechanism. The sun gear is slidably attached to a hollow driving shaft and has a feed screw which is engaged with a feed nut. This feed nut is rotatably fitted onto the hollow driving shaft in such a way that the nut is limited of its movement in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 4236432
Abstract: In a fret saw blade having a shank portion and saw-teeth, the saw-teeth are formed in a manner that the centers of the cutting edges of some saw-teeth are depressed and deformed generally in V-shape so as to form sharp ends projecting beyond the side surfaces of the shank portion of the fret saw blade.

  • Patent number: 4116101
Abstract: In an automatic sawing machine wherein a workpiece is moved in two orthogonal directions by a profile control or a numerical control so as to cut a groove of a predetermined profile, the opposite ends of the fret saw blade are synchronously driven by independent pulse motors so as to direct the fret saw blade always in the tangential direction of the profile.
