  • Patent number: 6311521
Abstract: A raw material mixture, which has a glass composition containing a salt or an oxide of a flame reaction metal, is heated, and an intermediate base material, in which the salt of the flame reaction metal, or the like, has been thermally decomposed and which is in a temporary sintered state or a fused glass state, is thereby formed. The intermediate base material is ground, and a ground material is thereby obtained. The ground material is mixed together with a liquid and, optionally, a binder, and a viscous flame reaction material is thereby formed. The viscous flame reaction material is supported on a substrate and heated to a temperature, which is not lower than a vitrification melting temperature of the viscous flame reaction material. In this manner, the flame reaction material is fusion bonded to the substrate. Generation of a thermal decomposition gas in the baking step is thus restricted, and the carrying of the flame reaction material on the substrate is carried out appropriately.

  • Patent number: 6120566
Abstract: A liquid fuel for combustion appliances, in which a combustion wick for sucking up the fuel by the utilization of capillarity is used, contains an alcohol as a principal constituent and contains a hydrocarbon compound, which has approximately the same boiling point as that of the principal constituent, as a flame reaction agent. By the addition of the flame reaction agent, which is not accompanied by the occurrence of clogging of the combustion wick, the combustion flame of an alcohol, which otherwise produces a colorless flame, is colored and its visual perceptibility is thereby enhanced, such that the structure of the combustion appliance may be kept simple and the flame stability may be obtained reliably.

  • Patent number: 6089218
Abstract: In a high-calorie gas appliance (1) which is set with a replaceable fuel gas cassette (9) containing therein liquefied gas and has a burner (7) for burning vaporized fuel gas from the cassette, a heat transfer plate (15) is mounted on the gas appliance with its one end portion disposed near the burner (7) and its the other end portion in contact with the fuel gas cassette (9) so that a part of heat of combustion at the burner (7) is transferred to the fuel gas cassette (9) to heat the same. Further, a heat accumulator member (2) is disposed in contact with the heat transfer plate (15) in the position of contact of the heat transfer plate with the cassette (9). Thus temperature drop of the liquefied gas due to vaporization latent heat in response to gas supply from the cassette is suppressed, thereby ensuring stable gas supply even if the amount of gas in the cassette upon initiation burning is reduced and ensuring exhaustion of the cassette upon quenching.

  • Patent number: 6010334
Abstract: In a combustion appliance provided with a combustion wick for sucking up a liquid fuel by the utilization of capillarity and burning it, functions for automatically extinguishing the fire after the combustion has been carried out for a predetermined length of time are constituted with a simple mechanism. The combustion wick (6), which comprises a sucking section for sucking up a liquid fuel by the utilization of capillarity and a burning section for burning the sucked-up liquid fuel, is divided at an intermediate position into a burning section side subdivision (6A) and a sucking section side subdivision (6B). The combustion wick (6) is located such that at least either one of the subdivisions can be moved in a direction that comes into contact with the other and in a direction that separates from the other. The fuel is fed from the sucking section side subdivision (6B) to the burning section side subdivision (6A) when they are brought into contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 5807092
Abstract: A gas cylinder joined to a gas appliance. Based on the knowledge that a resonance frequency of cassette type gas cylinder does not vary with a residual quantity of gas therein a transmitter and a receiver are placed in positions opposed to a weld zone of the trunk portion of the gas cylinder and which permits an output voltage of the receiver with respect to a residual quantity of the gas to be detected at a specific resonance frequency of the gas cylinder. The resonance frequency is not lower than a predetermined level, the residual quantity of a liquefied gas in the cylinder being detected by transmitting the specific resonance frequency signal from the transmitter and detecting a reception output of not lower than a predetermined level by the receiver. This enables a residual quantity of the gas in the liquefied gas containing cassette type gas cylinder to be detected reliably from the outside.
