    Abstract: To reduce engine exhaust gas pressure behind a motorboat propeller formed with a boss for educing engine exhaust gas therethrough, without forming a trumpet-shaped boss end and without allowing exhaust gas to flow upstream along the boss outer surface, a single or plural small subblades are provided between two adjacent large main blades at such a position that a positive pressure domain produced by the subblade reduces a negative pressure domain produced by the main blade. Since engine exhaust gas can be effectively educed, engine power increases and therefore motorboat acceleration performance can be improved.

Each trim cylinder is pivotally supported on the stern bracket, and a rear end of each trim cylinder is provided with thrust rollers which rolls on the lift member. Alternatively, each trim cylinder is pivotally supported on the lift member, and the front end is provided with the thrust rollers abutting against the stern bracket.

To improve the durability of the flexible duct, that is, to allow the flexible duct not to be moved whenever the outboard motor is pivoted for steering operation, the air supply apparatus for an outboard motor comprises (a) a hollow steering shaft pipe fixedly supported near the transom; (b) upper and lower bearings, attached between the steering shaft pipe, for supporting the pivotal steering shaft of the motor; (c) a cylindrical cover for pivotably and slidably covering the upper end of the steering shaft pipe; and (d) a flexible duct connected between the transom and the fixed hollow steering shaft pipe.

    Abstract: An outboard propulsion unit supporting system by which an outboard propulsion unit is vertically movably supported to the rear end section of a boat. The supporting system is comprised of a pair of slit brackets installed to the rear end section of the boat. Each slit bracket is formed with a generally vertically extending slit in which a guide roller rotatably secured to the side of the propulsion unit is movably engaged. The boat is provided at its transom with a pair of thrust rollers on which a pair of generally vertically extending guide rails formed on the propulsion unit side are detachably contact, respectively. Additionally, a tilt cylinder is provided between the boat transom and the propulsion unit side thereby to raise the propulsion unit generally vertically.
