  • Patent number: 7317868
Abstract: The present invention has an objective of providing an optical disk having a high resolution picture and a system for reproducing data on the optical disk, which are compatible with a conventional system for reproducing an ordinary resolution picture. A high resolution signal is divided into a main signal and a sub signal by picture division means and MPEG-encoded. The main signal and the sub signal are divided into frames each having 1 GOP or more. The resultant first interleave block 54 and second interleave block 55 are recorded alternately on an optical disk. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduced both the first and second interleave blocks, so that a high resolution picture is obtained. A non-high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces only the first or second interleave block, so that an ordinary resolution picture.

  • Publication number: 20070285818
Abstract: An ECC block is constituted by RS(248, 216, 33). Of a data length of 216 bytes (symbols), only 16 bytes are allocated to BCA data and the remaining 200 bytes are used for fixed data having a predetermined value. Using the fixed data of 200 bytes and the BCA data of 16 bytes, parities of 32 bytes (symbols) are calculated. Only the BCA data of 16 bytes and the parities of the former 16 bytes of the 32-byte parities, that is, a total of 32 bytes only, are recorded in a burst cutting area of an optical disc. In decoding, error correction processing is carried out by using the fixed data of 200 bytes. The unrecorded parities of 16 bytes are processed as having been erased. Thus, the error correction capability in a burst cutting area of an optical disc can be improved.

  • Patent number: 7298844
Abstract: A recording/reproducing apparatus includes: a first storage section for storing data structure information which includes encrypted data; a special information holding section for holding special information associated with the data structure information; and a controller for controlling the first storage section and the special information holding section. The data structure information is associated with the special information such that the special information is updated in response to an update of the data structure information, or such that the data structure information is updated in response to an update of the special information. The controller controls movement of the encrypted data from the first storage section to a second storage section, and the controller updates the special information such that a mismatch occurs between the special information obtained before the movement of the encrypted data and the special information obtained after the movement of the encrypted data.

  • Publication number: 20070239948
Abstract: A data processor includes: a first medium on which a content's data has been bound-recorded; a memory having stored thereon the content's access control information; and a read/write section for reading and writing data from/on a second medium. In response to a request to back up the content, the read/write section writes the content's data on the second medium and the memory retains the access control information without modifying the information. If a request to restore the content has been received and if the access control information that makes the content accessible is stored in the memory and if the content's data has been written on the second medium, then the read/write section reads the content's data from the second medium and writes the data on the first medium.

  • Publication number: 20070230903
Abstract: To record both of two digital broadcasts and/or a digital broadcast and an analog broadcast to be delivered by mutually different broadcasting systems even if they are scheduled to be transmitted in mutually overlapping time frames. A data processing apparatus receives a first broadcast signal and a second broadcast signal from mutually different broadcasting systems to record programs, represented by these broadcast signals, on at least one storage medium. The processor includes: a first receiving section to receive the first broadcast signal; a second receiving section to receive the second broadcast signal; a first stream processing section for outputting a stream of a first program represented by the first broadcast signal; a second stream processing section for outputting a stream of a second program represented by the second broadcast signal; and a stream control section that receives the first and second streams and writes the streams on the at least one storage medium in parallel with each other.

  • Patent number: 7274860
Abstract: An optical disk for recording more than one system stream containing audio data and video data. The audio data and video data of the plural system streams are recorded to the optical disk, and are interleaved such that the difference between the input start times of the video data and audio data to the video buffer in the video decoder and the audio buffer in the audio decoder is less than the reproduction time of the number of audio frames that can be stored in the audio buffer plus one audio frame.

  • Publication number: 20070204202
Abstract: Four ECC blocks are recorded in a burst cutting area of an optical disc. Each ECC block is constituted by a BCA content code of 1 byte, content data length of 1 byte, and content data of 14 bytes. Of the BCA content data, the leading 6 bits are used for application ID and the remaining 2 bits are used for block number. Disc ID is stored in the content data. Since the four ECC blocks exist, the optical disc can be managed individually by four applications at the maximum. Thus it becomes possible to manage the same optical disc by a plurality of applications.

  • Publication number: 20070174606
Abstract: A key distribution system distributes key data for using content to a second encryption device that has been legitimately outsourced processing by a first encryption device. The first encryption device acquires permission information indicating that the first encryption device has permission to use the content, generates certification information by making an irreversible alteration the to permission information, and transmits the permission information and the certification information to the second encryption device. The second encryption device receives the permission information and the certification information, sends them to a key distribution device, and acquires the key data from the key distribution device. The key distribution device receives the permission information and the certification information, judges whether or not the certification information was generated by the by the first encryption device, and if judging in the affirmative, transmits the key data to the second encryption device.

  • Patent number: 7196994
Abstract: An optical disk is provided that disables reproduction of sub-information even if the sub-information as a contents encryption key is recorded entirely onto another optical disk. Sub-information is recorded on the optical disk by deforming a recording mark slightly in accordance with a pseudo random number sequence that is obtained using as an initial value medium ID that is read out medium inherent information. This allows sub-information inherent in a medium to be recorded, and even if the sub-information is duplicated entirely to another optical disk, the illegally duplicated sub-information cannot be reproduced because of a difference in initial value of a pseudo random number sequence between media.

Abstract: An optical disc has a plurality of sectors, where each of the plurality of sectors includes a plurality of frames. A sub information bit value of “0” or “1” is assigned to the plurality of frames constituting a sector, excluding the first and last frames. Edge positions are displaced so that leading/lagging errors appear in accordance with a certain rule when data fields of the frames to which the sub information bit value “1” is assigned are read. Edge positions are displaced so that leading/lagging errors appear in accordance with a reversal of the certain rule when data fields of the frames to which the sub information bit value “0” is assigned are read.

  • Publication number: 20060168357
Abstract: An input/output (IO) system reduces the processing load involved in judging whether a device is valid or revoked. The system is constituted from an input/output (IO) device and an information usage device. The IO device outputs an identifier (ID) list to the information usage device, the ID list including one or more identifiers (IDs), arranged according to a predetermined rule, that each correspond to a different valid or revoked device. The information usage device uses the received ID list to specify a target range that includes a target ID stored by the information usage device, and outputs range information indicating the specified target range to the IO device, which uses the received range information in judging whether the information usage device is valid or revoked.
