  • Patent number: 10082075
Abstract: An oil filter layout structure for an internal combustion engine for a motorcycle. An exhaust pipe connected to an exhaust port extends rearwardly beneath the internal combustion engine along a longitudinal direction of the motorcycle. An oil pan is disposed below the internal combustion engine, the oil pan having one of left and right side walls spaced along a transverse direction of the motorcycle. The one side wall is inclined downwardly toward a center of the motorcycle. The exhaust pipe is disposed closely to the side wall. An oil filter is mounted on the internal combustion engine and disposed below the internal combustion engine in overlapping relation to the oil pan as viewed in side elevation, near the other of the left and right side walls of the oil pan.

  • Patent number: 9080497
Abstract: A water-cooled engine includes first connection paths continuous with a cylinder-head-side water jacket and a second connection path continuous with a cylinder-body-side water jacket. The paths are disposed in a sidewall of a cylinder body. A thermostat valve is attached to the sidewall. An oil cooler having a cooling water lead-in pipe and a cooling water lead-out pipe is attached to one sidewall of an engine main body to face the same direction as that of the thermostat valve. The cooling water lead-in pipe and the cooling water lead-out pipe are connected to the thermostat valve.

  • Patent number: 8997713
Abstract: A vehicular air intake is configured to produce a turbulent intake air flow in a cylinder of an engine. The air flow may be provided as a vortex. A throttle valve, for controlling an amount of intake air provided to the engine, has a pivot shaft with an axis which is offset from a center axis of an air intake passage in which the throttle valve is installed, and a throttle plate affixed to the pivot shaft. The pivot axis is offset and spaced away from the central axis of the throttle body such that a first portion of a throttle plate disposed on a first side of the pivot shaft, is larger than a second portion of the throttle plate disposed on a second side of the pivot shaft. This arrangement provides the non-uniform turbulent air flow into the engine.

  • Patent number: 8925513
Abstract: An internal combustion engine oil supply system contained in a body of the engine, in which a pump casing common to first and second oil pumps having a common pump shaft rotated interlockingly with rotation of a crankshaft of the engine is provided with a main suction port common to the first and second oil pumps, and first and second relief valves are individually connected to discharge passages of the first and second oil pumps. The main suction port is partitioned into first and second suction ports. The pump casing is formed with a first suction passage extending from the first suction port to a suction side of the first oil pump, and a second suction passage extending from the second suction port to a suction side of the second oil pump. Release ports of the first and second relief valves are connected to the second suction passage.
